The Yaesu FTM-500D. Coming March 2023. Some stand out features to me are. APRS 6w speaker PMG function Dual receive Wide receive, airband, etc. (108MHz to 999.995MHz) 16 character channel names Bluetooth MicroSD slot 50W (FTM-500DS is 20w) I was just about to get the FTM-300, so I'll be interested to compare them.
I love new Yaesu radios...It will be interesting to see all the features. It seems like they are similar to the 300 so I'm not sure what the draw will be. But we will see. I'm hopeful they upgrade the 991A soon. The screen is getting long in the tooth....
I don't see anything about it having memory banks. That is the problem with the other Yaesu radios like this no memory banks!
Love or hate Yaesu, their commitment to the ham radio market cannot be denied. It is exciting to see new products being cranked out! I love my FTDX-10.
Is this the replacement for the FTM-400XDR which recently went end of life because of a lack of parts to build that older design? If so, should we expect a replacement for the FT-818ND soon as well which went EOL at the same time for the same reason? 73 Ed.
Yaesu Radio announces the FTM-144D Series, its flagship mobile in the 430/500MHz band, > adopts a dual-speaker system of the < control unit and main unit| hamlife.jp Forget theFTM 144 in the link the page is about the 500
I'm not sure what the difference is between this, and the FTM-300DR, other than an updated faceplate? The functionality appears to be the same. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Meh another VHF UHF radio sigh .... How about replacing the FT818 you just discontinued. VHF is boring and the radios are all the same. Time to step up your game and get back into portable HF. SDR portable replacement for 818 to compete with the 705. Also we need you to come out with a mobile SDR based car radio for HF thanks!
We've updated our page with all the specs we have so far: https://www.gigaparts.com/yaesu-ftm-500dr-mobile-vhf-uhf-transceiver.html
