Steve WG0AT is a well-known Summits on the Air activator. His excursions to the top of SOTA summits to operate mountaintop portable with his to goats, Peanut and Rooster is legendary. But there is so much more to his story. Steve has been operating from the top of mountaintops long before the existence of SOTA. So what was that like? What was the motivation? I had a QSO with you on 11/6/2021 on 20 meters, I remember laughing that I had a QSO with Charlie Brown lol.

 

Wow.. I would suggest climbing an active volcano and calling it D (disasters) OTA. Good old DOTA!

I worked Steve two years ago when I had only been doing CW for six months. He sent me an audio of the QSO and he sent me back a QSL card. He also made me aware of the Mountaintopper radios and I got an MTR5B for Christmas. Steve is a good guy and I like his approach to ham radio and life.
