HR2.0 - Ham Radio Balloon Launch | APRS Antenna, Ham Radio Repeater

Special thanks to the folks out at K5PRK and K5RWK for allowing me to record and post this Ham Radio Balloon launch, which included payloads for a Ham Radio Antenna, Crossband repeater, DMR simplex repeater, LORA and APRS tracker, and a few other items.

What a super experience. The video from the balloon was quite clear. Technology today is mind-boggling.

This whole video is really cool. The captured flight by the cam of KE5GDB is my favorite.

 

I could watch things like this all day, Great club event. Great video.

 

Yeah like the others said, this was cool!

 

And they can see once more, how flat the Earth is...

 

The earth is round?? Just kidding... Aristotle knew the earth was round from his observation of the lunar eclipse.

But hey, the moon landing was made in a Hollywood sound stage!

 

What a shame that hams in Virginia can no longer conduct exciting exercises like this. The Virginia Legislature, in an effort to ban the release of vinyl party balloons, passed legislation that makes it a crime to launch any type of balloon with the exception of passenger carrying hot air balloons. While several clubs and schools in the state were previously demonstrating what balloon technology could offer, any future experiments of this type are banned due to the good intent but technological ignorance of certain law makers.

 

RI recently put in a similar balloon ban, however, they were smart enough to omit weather and scientific study from the no-fly list.

 

Is the national weather service banned from launching weather balloons as well ?

 

No.

 

Hey don’t knock it til you try it heck it made Area 51 famous ‍♂️

 

The ballons where just the start. The Area became more famous in cause of the working places for the aliens of General Dynamics, Lockheed, Boeing and so on.

 

The weather balloon (alien spacecraft) crashed in Roswell, NM. Area 51 is where they took it which is in Nevada and part of the Nevada Test Site (Nevada National Security Site). I spent lots of time out there in other areas. Pretty cool place to visit. Someday they might actually let tourists go see some of the sites.
