Want to be sure your audio is clean and you're getting maximum output power? Here is how you set your microphone gain properly on the Icom 7300.

The stock Icom mic sounds better than the Heil used in that video.

The addition of 3,3uF capacitor for the average power gain now has my 7300 working perfectly. BUT, what's described here is A MUST and works just fine!

    Thank you!

    Is your channel monetized?

The stock mic is pretty good but the Heil should sound better. Something is wrong.

One easy way to answer that for yourself is to watch the video on Youtube. Start to watch the video here and click on the word "Youtube" at the bottom right. That will take you to the video in Youtube. I will say that watching it on QRZ avoids any ads. Now... go find out that answer for yourself. ;) Hint: If you don't see any ads (watching from Youtube not QRZ) it means that either the owner didn't put ads on that video or that the channel is not monetized.

Now, if we could just get the tight to the right crowd to do this correctly. Deaf ears. Most all ops of this rig that I encounter use waaaaaaaay too much compression! Fatiguing to listen to but their watt meter is dancing. Turns a decent radio into an IMD machine.:(

I saw the power meter hitting 100 watts with no compression and your mic gain at 40% which would equate to perfect copy on the other end. I don't get this obsession with people needing to see the meter peak at 100 watts on every syllable coming out of their mouths.

    ..............
    ...
When I used an IC-7300 my mic gain set 25%, compression I recall running at 2 or 3 and getting decent reports. I never listened to my own audio, but every one else running -7300 sounds real good with the stock mic. Seems like darn near almost half the SSB ops I hear lately are running an IC7300; they got some seriously deep market penetration with that one.
