Hello all. This is NA5B, Mehmet. For those who do not have their HF up and running, there is an alternative way to listen to the Hurricane Watch Net for hurricane ISAIAS which is going to hit Florida and the East coast states in the coming days. Here is a link for the WebSDR server that I have been running for some years, a 24/7 basis in Washington DC Area. I plan to look up into the eye of the storm as it will be passing directly over my house... Seriously w2aat - Murrells Inlet, SC
KA 1YBS No! I am bothered too. This is an English speaking nation. We speak ENGLISH here. I speak Spanish as a second language. I also speak Italian and German and I have a smattering of French. Why choose an Spanish pronunciation for a storm affecting an English speaking nation? As they say in Italian: BOH!!
Its a pronunciation I have never ever heard of. I thought it was pronounced "Isaiah" until I heard newscasters pronounce it. I always thought the theory behind naming storms was to bring awareness to the situation, and not meant to confuse anyone. https://www.lex18.com/homepage-showcase/how-to-pronounce-isaias Its like when I first heard the pronunciation of "Acai"... I wanted to understand the origin. Maybe I'm a budding linguist!
