If you would like more power for 2 meters, especially if you do 2 meter SSB or CW then check out the Mirage B 5018 G 2 Meter Amplifier! This 160 watt amp can really push your signal! The Mirage B 5018 G amplifier doesn't take up much room and runs quiet! You can also use the Mirage B 5018 G for tropospheric ducting!
I use the B-34-G for my POTA activations. Its amazing what that little 35w amp does on 2m weak signal with the Elk Log Periodic. Fantastic amplifiers. The 160w version would be amazing in the shack.
"You can also use the Mirage B 5018 G for tropospheric ducting!" As opposed to the competitor's amps that can't be used for tropospheric ducting???
More Power for 2M? I recall Mirage selling 2M amps with the same power rating for at least 30-years. Suggest the title be changed to Same Power for 2M, LOL. Of greater interest would be information concerning any improvements to this particular amplifier over predecessors.
I have used an HT at one watt for that too, even though such activity was not certified by the manufacturer.
Still have my homemade 2 x MRF 247 class a/B amplifier doing 160 watts, build that one 33 years or so ago from the motorola handbook.
Unfortunately no longer manufactured but you can still get them on the second hand market if you "really" want more power for 2m - it needs 100w drive though - so TS200, IC9700 etc. as driver rig. Crazy power level for 2 metres though.
I have in my Mobile Rig a Original Pre MFJ .....Mirage Communications Equipment Inc. Morgan Hill California B1016
I also have a Mirage amplifier, B-1018-G in my shack with a 10 element Cushcraft 148-20T works well together.
Numerous 2m amplifiers are available, not just Mirage. Mine are RF Concepts and built like a rock. Everything from mild to wild. I believe Lunar Link still produces full legal limit ++ amps running a pair of 3CX800A7's. Another company sells pallet kits that produce 1KW on 2m. A wise, less expensive option is to just put a better antenna up higher. You'd be surprised what an additional 10' of height will help you achieve. Can't forget studying the propagation forecasts. William Hepburn "tropospheric ducting forecast" works quite well. My furthest 2m QSO was from MI down to eastern Mississippi only using 75w and a 6 element yagi I built.
Why not? What QRZ rule is being violated? https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?pages/QRZ_Forums_Code_of_Conduct/ https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?threads/swapmeet-rules-rev-june-11-2020.703335/ Dave W7UUU
