Nice list of things to try. I run a Winlink net every Wednesday. If you don't have anyone to send a winlink e-mail to, you can send it to me.
Great ideas Jason. Made me think of the 'tape measure' antenna that I have been wanting to try to build. And I just happen to now have some old tape measures that I've junked. It's amazing what you can think of to do when things slow down and you're not in a rush all the time.
Here's something else you can do: This is the hole for my tower support. deepest part right now is about 3 feet. I've been working on this since 1 April.
Boy that clay looks like you can weld straight to it with that iron content...! Such an exciting time! Diggin your (first?) tower foundation!
Finally put my hex up on a homebrew tilt over/crank up mast. Rebuilt a 46 year old HAM-M too. It's FB OTA! Stay Safe!
I dug my hole too, 5x5x6ft, I also had to dig in clay, I used a post hole auger to loosen up the clay, the concrete guy came by for an estimate, he was so impressed with my hole that he took a photo of it!
