A movie with two teen heartthrobs, one male and the other female using amateur radio would net thousands of young hams. Somebody they identify with needs to make AR look cool.
Good to see that all hope for future generations is not lost, thank you Emily for keeping our awesome hobby alive and for spreading the interest to the next generations 73's .
My YL and I just finished up the first season of the new Netflix series Lost In Space. Its grounded in the eponymous series of the '60's which was mostly a farce fantasy, however the new one is TOTALLY RE-IMAGINED with a much more serious and smarter sci-fi and adult orientation. Pretty darn good CGI effects. The original characters are all there, with interesting new modern social juxtapositions, plus other worthwhile cast additions. The Robinson family all have their refined talents and quirks, while Dr. Smith is a female, smarter, and with far more wiles. The robot is AWESOME. While AR is not mentioned per se, yet, but as episodes transpire, the boy, Will Robinson, is seen using a technology that is said he and his father used in the past to communicate directly. It appears to be a manpacked Yaesu FT-2900 (?) transceiving data bursts or MCW with his father. The Morse code heard is authentic! It's subsequently used as EMCOMM between them during a crisis. It's a thought provoking and entertaining show IMO. 73, John, WØPV
I love that she wrote this book. I have a big Scouting event coming up this month and I've written to her and am hoping to feature her book at the radio booth. We shall see if I get a response and what it is. 73 Shawn
