Petition: 2 metre amateur band must be kept

Chris Garrod has created an online petition to the UK Government and Ofcom to save the vital 144 MHz amateur radio band which is under threat

    See the petition at
    https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/2-metre-amateur-band-must-be-kept

France has proposed to CEPT that 144-146 MHz be allocated to the Aeronautical Mobile Service.
It seems Germany was the only CEPT member that had any objections, see

I signed even though I.ve only ever used 2m once ( PW magazine contest '17 ) and it could be the thin edge of the wedge and should be fought but do the last two or three lines in the proposal really mean the end of amateur use on 2m as some are saying ?

Well here in Australia the activity is so low that I wouldn't have a problem losing two meters. I scan the repeaters on 2M and 70CM and there is nothing. Put out a call, no reply.

It's not letting me sign because my postal code is in the US...how do I sign this thing?

Don't be naive. If they take one they can take more. That is the wrong attitude to have!

The problem with these petitions is if you have low turnout, it looks even worse. Stop with petitions and protests and USE THE DAMN BAND!

Petition is a terrible idea. It will only showcase the significance of a low response.

Google search for a postal code in Great Britain and use that.....

If 2M is lost in this (EU) Region, it will open up a carte blanche stripping of the internationally allocated ham bands above 2M.

The way to prevent the present situation is as the DARC recommends-- working thru the IARU reps for each country.

It is amazing that the French amateur organizations allowed this to get through.

An absence of response will be an automatic acceptance later on.

I can't find where I read a partial extract of the proposal. If the information supplied was correct, then the 144 - 148 Mhz range is excluded from the proposal. Anyone have a copy of the actual proposal (in English I hope)?
I don't sign anything 'blind', I don't care what it is.

Clickbait headline. It does not affect the US region, and the headline should state that.
