JS8CALL is not yet formally released, but now DX stations are embracing and it is fun!

I had a QSO (Yes QSO) with M0IAX / Mark (On a Boat IN UK Area) his SNR -18, we had a QSO @ 20 WPM

To refresh, JS8CALL has the same specifications as FT8 (-24db / 50 HZ) the difference you can have a QSO, @20WPM.

But the DX stations are catching on, and very easy to work DX but with a QSO!

I love Olivia (500/8) is my favorite, however, it works only at -13db below the noise floor and occupy 500HZ, so the above QSO, could not happen, although the WPM is 30.

If you love FT8, but want a QSO, try JS8CALL!

This will take off, especially when it is officially released!

You think these guys who wrote the software will allow HRD to adapt it to their programs?? I hope so.

It's not their call. It is based on the FT8 code, and it's hard to see HRD being able to add FT8 or JS8Call without adhering to the Open Source guidelines.

To answer the questioned, about HRD, JS8CALL...

If you use FT8, this is a seperate program, however, it does have an option to connect directly to HRD, (Like JS8CALL), and therefore, it seems like an extension, (If you will). When you modify the frequency through FT8 or J8CALL the HRD follows.

It is a blast JS8CALL Can't beat the -24dB specifications, and 15 to 20wpm, speed. Just hard to beat...

    Cheers,

    NN2X, TIM

Does LOTW accept JS8 as a valid new mode?

Not much love on this post (few comments...)

Is the js8 call catching on? I remember the mode FSQ and the software FSQ-Call which was, it seems, basically the same idea.

I thought FSQ call was pretty neat, but I never really worked it much.

I wonder if the FSQ is even relevant now since js8 is here.

Until it's officially released, I don't think you are going to see it in LoTW as a valid mode.

In addition to the above, LoTW will first wait for the mode to be added to the ADIF standard.

Configure TQSL to map JS8 to DATA for now.

When is the "formal release date"?

    Why the endless delay?

    That's dumb.

    Just RELEASE it.

Joe Taylor never had a problem with releasing his software.....

My guess? The "formal release" will have a Paypal link.
