Hello My Friends, I made my first, but Not last ever visit to the Berryville VA Hamfest today. I had a nice time, and want to say Thank You to all the hard workers, that helped to put this hamfest on. Please pass my thanks to the Fairgrounds people too for doing a nice job. Yes there were a few muddy spots, that is to be expected at a Fairgrounds, to me. It took me almost 8 hours to get home, and I plan to attend next year. Best 73 and God Bless!
Here are a few photos of the Berryville VA 2017 Hamfest. Here is an old Whippet car!! SB-220 The Gent was asking $500. Jill and Scott from Tower Electronics made the long trip from Wisconsin.
Before I put anything on the tables. This Gent, name was Bill, I forget his call, nice Gentleman, had some neat stuff. Rich and Chris came from near Buffalo, NY this was about 6:15am, the opened about 7am. Some of my stuff, some of it sold, a little later.
I went to sell some items and wound up not even breaking even on expenses. Was not a good year for me. Sure, I got rid of the gigantic box of tubes; but in the end I could have stayed home and probably had someone come take them from me.
Everybody was looking for bargains. I dropped below asking price on almost everything. I was glad to sell some of the stuff, versus putting it on Ebay, anything heavy, large or fragile I don't like to sell except face to face. Better luck next year, or perhaps at Shelby?
Maybe next year...probably not. I tailgated this year because the boss wanted me to get rid if those tubes. I won't be able to make Shelby. I'm heading to my friend's in West Virginia for Labor Day weekend. I get to travel through the NRQZ and I get to keep firing off my APRS packets at full power on the drive....as per the email I receieved from the NRQZ administrator.
