I'm at work and cannot assist but, someone should contact the US Coast Guard in Alaska to see if they can assist.

    Ham Emergency

I have been in contact with the U.S. Coast Guard in Juneau, Alaska and they have not had any report or contact with anyone so they are alerted with all the information I have here as well as the KL7RRC/P info on QRZ.

RZ3FW - PLEASE POST ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, OR A VHF FREQUENCY THEY CAN CONTACT THE EXPEDITION ON OR GRID COORDINATES WHERE THEY ARE LOCATED AND I WILL RELAY TO THE COAST GUARD.

You can send to me at: pcavnar (at) g-m-i.net also

    K5MT Merle Elson is OK

Merle, K5MT, ex N6PYN, a ham radio enthusiast extraordinaire, based in New Mexico, joined a wonderful team(KL7RRC) NA235 on an expedition to the Alaskan island, Chirikof. Conditions are always brutal on these adventures. He had to be airlifted from the island for chest pains--a 2-hour flight from Chirikof to Kodiak. Bottom line--Merle is medically sound, will head back to ABQ asap. Thank you for being 'here' for me

I got this note from Merle's xyl, we are friends...

Does anyone know who had the heart attack? I looked up the info on KL7RRC and was surprised to see the first name of the listed group was my friend Merle Elson, K5MT (ex-N6PYN) of New Mexico, late of Ridgecrest, CA, my home QTH. Sorry to hear the bad news and we hope the best the stricken ham. I sure hope it was not Merle.

    Any info would be great.

Looks like W5DPD and I posted at the same time. He had the info I was looking for. Glad to hear Merle is ok. I'll catch up with him in a few days to check on him. I'm sure he appreciates all the great responses to the call for assistance.

We have been in communication with Merle's xyl (we are all good friends) and
Merle is fine, he has been released from hospital and will return to ABQ soon...
My husband KA5CDJ was with (then N6PYN) K5MT last year when they activated NA239 Seal Island...
