The Oland Amateur Radio Society, SK7RN and the Scandinavian CW Activity Group (SCAG) are pleased to announce a stimulating CW activity (on all the HF Bands) for Scandinavian amateur radio operators for Calendar year 2013.

SOCWA involves CW (Continuous Wave) contact by and between amateur radio operators in the Scandinavian countries of Denmark, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. (Prefixes OY, JW, JX, OH0 and OJ0 also count as Scandinavian countries.)

A Scandinavian amateur radio operator is:
1) an individual who holds a valid permit or license issued by one of the above listed countries, or
2) an individual whose original license was issued by any one of the aforementioned countries.

Radio amateurs from other countries outside of Scandinavia who register are welcome to participate in the SOCWA, but in order to qualify for a Completion Certificate; each qualified two-way CW contact must include an amateur operator from one of the listed Scandinavian countries.

The SOCWA program will be in effect for Calendar Year 2013 (01-Jan-2013 through 31-Dec-2013) in order to maximize the total amount of qualified two-way QSOs.
Recommended frequencies (khz): 1835-1840, 3535-3540, 7035-7040, 10125-10130, 14035-14040, 18085-18090, 21035-21040, 24905-24910, 28035-28040

The Energizing Emergency Communications WPA ARES Conference Agenda and
Registration form are now available on the www.wpaares.org website.
Feel free to invite your EMA Director, Served agency Liaison and others
you feel would be interested. It is important that we get a headcount
as soon as possible so please emphasize the need for early registration.
Encourage folks to bring go-kits and especially specially equipped
vehicles if possible. Information on overnight accommodation is being
researched for those that may need it.

PRESENTERS-

The lecture hall in the Engineering Department is media ready including
video projector and Internet connection. If you need some special

Ham Radio decades ago was an experimental hobby. Most hams back then built or designed their own equipment. Today, Al Gallo WØERE and “SAP” NØSAP have come up with another fun project you can join in with us.

We will have a 30 Meter Mobile Beacon transmitting on 10.129.25 MHz starting on May 16^th at 12:00 UTC as we travel to Dayton Hamvention. We will transmit on this frequency at 3 watts giving our current Grid Square so you can track our movement from Southwest Missouri (Nixa, MO.) to Dayton, Ohio. We will be back on the air May 20^th at the same time 12:00 UTC on our return trip to Nixa, MO.

The antenna will be a 23-foot trailing wire mounted on a Hustler mast without the resonator. Using Litz wire, it starts floating in the air at 35 MPH and will be flapping in the wind at about four to five feet off the ground. The length of the wire gives us a safe distance for vehicles behind us.

We will be monitoring 40 Meter SSB at 7.265 MHz and QSY to 18.140 MHz during our trip for Beacon reports. If you should hear our Beacon signal, please contact us on the air, by email, or audio file at erecom@hotmail.com. You can also see the Beacon on QRZ under WØERE or Ham Nation Episode 97 at http://twit.tv/show/ham-nation/97. Click on the SD Large Video for viewing.

We need to hear from you to better understand propagation and signal reports at the time of transmission and location. NØSAP will be driving and receiving on the air reports. WØERE will be operating the Beacon from the passenger seat. If you are going to Dayton, we hope to see you on the road.

The Open Day at HMS Collingwood (GB3RN) will not only involve a running shack all day but it will also be streamed live by Amateur Television!!!! All the events of the day wil be there for you to see and also you can catch the station and get a very different contact

it starts May 14, Tuesday 10 am CDT (1500z). there will be several teams of student ops. please contact as many teams as possible.

We're planning to introduce both t-hunting and orienteering into our trips.
