While QRZ unwisely keeps NX6D out of the assylum, I would like to point out that all of the right-wing posters here are merely echoing what they heard from their pals Lush Bimbo and Han Seanitty.

Never having listened to Lush or Hans, I wondered where the neo-bots were getting their stuff.

I'd listen to Al Franken and Randi Rhodes to get my left-wing marching orders, but I can't stand them, either. Instead, I have to get my orders from the subcarrier numbers code broadcast over Radio Moscow.

Oops....

Talking points?
I've seen many a strange thing, but never a speaking flintknapped stone.
I find the thought completely Obsidian. What movement are they spearheading??
It must be a tool, an orator of evil, flung in our direction.
Thus taking flight to pierce our collective soul, and eventually giving us the shaft.
It's madness, total madness, I say.

I listened to Randi and Al on Air America, until I found out that the AM station here that carries Air America is owned by Clear Channel. I'm not making this up. Air America is paying a Clear Channel station to carry AA's program. No wonder AA is losing money.

Speaking of Als, Mr. Gore's film on global warming is doing well, which is nifty. I just wish Al would get rid of his $300,000 of Oxy stock. Oxy has been a prolific destroyer of the Amazonian rain forest for going on 30 years now. I witnessed it first-hand in the 80's. VERY UGLY. Hello? Mr. Gore? YOO-HOO! Psssssttt.........you're profiting from destruction of the CO-2 sink! Wake up!

But the robot thing is interesting. Some scientists predicted last month that by the year 2013, lots of people will be regularly having sex with robots.

I just want to know one thing: will my first tryst with a robot be true love, or just another cold, empty, emotionless #robotic romp?

Good question, but kinda moot. The kids and I watched Fist of the North Star last night and we all feel more appreciative of America now.

I really liked the characters he brought to the screen and Chris Penn's death was another unwelcome shock. So many in Hollywood have checked out before their time with general indications of drug abuse that I would think the survivors would be scared straight by now. Is it the culture down there that makes drug use so deadly?

A place I worked at for many years had a fellow who listened to Rush every day without fail. #One could not help but hear him.

The thing that amazed me about Rush is that he would just make something up, create a whole story around it, and then present the whole thing as fact. #Anyone could have easily done five minutes of research to discredit the story, but instead the "Ditto-heads" would nod their heads, believe, and agree.

Perhaps this is why many folks think that right-wingers are dumb! #The ones that listened to Rush and participated on his show demonstrated clearly that they were completely without capacity to think for themselves.

Nothing is wrong with listening to somebody and agreeing with them. It is when you hear the same talking points coming out of different mouths that the red flag is raised. And it is usually not ideology. It is empty rhetoric filled with arrogance, intolerance and contempt.

I don't mind a valid conservative viewpoint. I just don't hear very many of them. A lot of conservative rhetoric is hypocritical. Whatever happened to limited government and fiscal responsibility? I'm all for it, but I just don't see it, but it is all too often that you see supposed conservatives backing this administration when everything that is done does not begin to resemble the supposed ideology that got them elected. Spending is out of control, lies were propagated to start a war, and our civil rights are eroding. I don't see how anybody with a shred of self-respect can support that.

When I lived in Des Moines, all my accounts were on the 'borders' of Iowa, so I spent many hours in the saddle every week, and many more in the office at night getting ready for the next day. I listened to "Flush" practically every day, and I agreed with a lot of what he said. But I found that he had this incredible way of starting out every day with reasonable sounding arguments, and by the end of the day, he was expounding the most unbelievably Neanderthal arguments I never expected to hear on the air. It was funny!

The only reason "Flush" was allowed to do it was that the "fairness doctrine" was thrown out. Remember the "fairness doctrine"? It dictated that if you made a statement supporting one political position, the station had to provide an opportunity for rebuttle by a "responsible spokesperson" for the opposing point of view. But, it was decided that the fairness doctrine was an unfair imposition on the rights of billionaires to dictate to the rest of us - it violated their freedom of speech to have to carry views opposed to theirs.
The results were predictable - soon, people like "Flush" who appealed to the billionaires came to dominate the airwaves.

There is no counterbalance to their diatribes. They say pretty much anything they want, and the more outrageous it is, the better for their advertisers. Have you ever listened to the cavelcade of snakeoil salesmen that advertise on their programs? That should tell you something about the program.

Over the course of a couple decades, they've completely changed the American polticial landscape. If they restored "fairness" tomorrow, they'd all be gone in an instant.

Nothing wrong with agreeing. #And my comments have nothing to do with disagreeing with Rush or you per se.

There is something wrong with believing what you hear from just one source without a couple of independent corroborating sources. #Just because Rush said something did not make it true. #Rush just made up stories. # A substantial portion of what he said was just fiction, straight from his imagination. #And his aptly named "Ditto-Heads" just nodded in agreement. #A lot of what Rush said could be identified for what it is with just a moment's objective thought. #Much more could be debunked by just a little research into the subject. #None of it gets even thought about when one is just nodding one's head. #If one just agrees and does not bother to verify, isn't that being perhaps a little robotic? #(And yes, I get my news and commentary from a number of disparate sources. #If they corroborate each other, then likely the stories are accurate. #If they don't, I check with further resources to see what else I can learn.)

And it isn't that his followers are not smart. #Many, I'm sure, are quite smart and quite capable of independent thought. #However, even if you have a 427 engine under the hood it doesn't do you any good until you let out the clutch.

Of course you would never hear a dissenting opinion from a caller, dissenters were screened out and never made it to air. #(I know this. #I've been in the control room where the screener sits and have watched it happen.) #And the once-in-a while clever dissenter who makes it through the screener gets interrupted and talked over and is not allowed to have his say.

Yes, Rush is charismatic and, in a way, he is entertaining. #But when listening to him you have to take him as an entertainment...sort of like Pro Wrestling. #You can't take either too seriously.
