Hi Guys & Ladies,
My wife & I and the son are moving to Tennessee in the next month to either Nashville or around Goodlettesville area. We found houses that we are interesting here. My wife still travels state to state as a traveling nurse. We're in Panama City right now and now they dont need her anymore so we have to leave here to go to tennessee where the hospital wants her back. We lived in nashville before for 3 months then me, wife and son moved back to florida for a another job. After this 6 months are up for this assignment, we will be moving back home to either Tampa Bay or Panama City Beach.

I've driven through Tennessee a few times and it always struck me as one of the nicest states down south.

Tennessee has beautiful mountains in the east, lots of TVA lakes (with locks), Memphis with great food and music, Nashville with more music and entertainmemt and lots of great people. I've thought about moving to the southen part of the state when I retire to get away from the snow we have here in the mountains of VA.

If I ever moved to Tennessee I would try to move some where NORTH EAST of Huntsville, Alabama. Some where near Chattanooga (*sp). We have a lot of lousy tornado weather in north Alabama, but as long as the Huntsville, Alabama area gets plenty of advance warning, all is okay.

So if you live northeast of Huntsville, you will get plenty of advance severe weather warning.

I know because I live here.

No, there are no homes for sale in my neighborhood, in case you were thinking of moving near me. You would be welcome, though.

Not to mention that everything there is pretty much "free..."

Holy cow!

Houses like any of these would be >$1 Million here. Any of them. The nice ones, much higher.

Possible retirement area.....

Knoxville looks better to me than Nashville or Memphis. Memphis is a nice place to walk the River or have ribs, but that WX hits you like a steambath.

Harold,

If I remember correctly you were in Tennessee with her last job also and weren't too happy with people around you. It seems you were looking forward to going to Florida where you hoped peoople would be friendlier.

I only bring this up to say that I hope you find a warmer reception this time and are more able to enjoy the people and the area you move to.

I have known some pretty nice people from Tennessee so I know they are there. You just need to get out there and meet them.

Anyway, good luck on the move and the new digs.

As a born and raised "hillbilly" from Maryville, TN (near Knoxville and the "Gateway to the Smokies")...I say go for it! I sometimes miss the rolling hills and the reds, yellows, and oranges of the autumn leaves. Tennessee will always be home, and is known for having the best all around seasonal climates of all the states..not too cold in the winter, not too hot in the summer...the occassional snow to enjoy, but rarely a blizzard. The lakes offer fishing and their are loads of nature trails for the hiker, rapids for the kayaker(sp?) and campsites for the outdoorsman. Am I starting to sound like a tour guide? http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Just PLEASE, don't move to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, or Sevierville and add to that tourist nightmare!

Oh, and yes, "Go Vols"

I thought this was a "G" site? What's all this "Go Vols"? That's just blasphemous! Just kidding ...

Heat - At least you didn't sing the other song!

VWU - good luck with your move and hope you enjoy your stay in TN. BTW - since your wife is a travel nurse, have you stayed anywhere else besides FL and TN? Or do you just rotate between the two?

And I can't imagine a hospital telling a nurse "we don't need you anymore". I thought there was a shortage!

There's only one state greater than Tennessee.
Virginia, of course!http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
But, my son was born in Alabama...my mother was born in Mississippi...
Georgia's pretty low on the list. My mother-in-law lives there...

KE7DLG...I know where your coming from when your saying that, I was hoping something will go good for my son he doesnt really want to move to tennessee for six months but he has no where else to go. We are orginally from florida (tamp bay area) and hopefully 6 months from now when will be back in florida and Jamie (my son) cant wait to come back down in florida. Its not that we didnt like the people in the nashville tennessee area it was just some of the people that live there I didnt crave for.

KC2ESD...Yeppers I been to the Opryland hotel its perdy nice there! I recommend it.

Guys & Ladies! Fellow Peoples. We are in the tennessee area staying here til tomorrow sometime then we are heading back home. We found a house but dont know if we got it yet so we're looking for a another one thats in the bellvue area. We got 2 more to look at but hopefully we find one to our liking. Harold (KI4MBK)

Mr.Gary (W5KLB) My Sailor Suited Friend. We loved it down here my son is hating to leave it here in panama city beach and his huge condo he calls it lol!. Where he works no one wants him to go because hes one of the best employees they have working for them but one of the managers dont see that in his views! The owner of the condo where we are staying at is already saying hes selling the condo either move or buy it. Jamie was like http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif...But anywhos we found a couple ones that we liked but they already have bids on them and one of them jamie fell in love with http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif...I guess he knows how to home shop? like he knows how to clothe shop at his favorite store abercrombie & fitch and dkny. I'll let you & everyone know how is everything going.

WA5KRP...I'll check into that to see what they have to offer!

Thanks...Harold *KI4MBK*
