Organizing a Search Mission

There a few rules I remember when I was in the Navy concerning Chiefs

Rule No.1: The Chief is right.

Rule No 2:. When the Chief is wrong, Rule No.1 becomes immediately operational.

Rule No.3: He who enter's the Chief's office with his own ideas must leave with the Chief's ideas.

Rule No.4: A Chief never reads a newspaper; he studies it.

Rule No.5. The Chief is never late; he is detained elsewhere.

It's "Rule No.5" that's got me puzzled.

So Mike, MW when are you going to stop "detaining" yourself and come back? Are you taking a "pause for the cause" or what? I missed your postings OM. I hope to see you posting soon.

I am one of those individuals and I have received a personal warning from Terry. Although I don’t mind sharing the contents of his message I will observe the custom of maintaining the confidentiality of personal emails so don’t IM me in that regard. Let’s just say Terry said something to the effect that I had limited choices left on QRZ and I’d better straighten out and fly right.

In retrospect I was way out of line with my replies to Dave, WX7B. Conflicts of ideologies, no matter how sharply divided they are, should be settled in honest and respectful debate. Name calling reduces the stature of our arguments to nothing more than playground taunting, impressing neither one’s opponent nor the onlookers from either side.

So I issue the following apologies:

Dave, WX7B: We are never going to see eye to eye on some issues, this would be a boring world if we did. Expect me to continue to disagree with you OM. That being said, I sincerely apologize for my insults and nasty remarks to you these last few days. I have no excuse for doing that. I am sincerely sorry. In the future I will couch my remarks to you in terms of respect due to a fellow ham and citizen of the world. 73’s

To the QRZ community: In retrospect things got ugly. As I remarked in my apology to Dave, I have no excuse. To all of you I also sincerely apologize for my behavior these past few days and I intend to never allow that to happen again from this QTH.

If there is anything positive to come out of this brouhaha it is this – I may not have served as a good example but I did a pretty good job serving as a bad example. Moral: When you are tempted to respond with a particularly nasty reply stop and reflect “What Would KW4MW Do?” – then don’t do it.
