Hey, just found this youth fourm! haha, so to get some chatter going i want to ask how many other young hams homebrew stuff?
I have a pretty sizeble junk box and am in the process of organizing it all.... Tought myself electronics and still studying hihi, ive noticed that unless your in a tech school around my area, there are no electronics courses...

I used to do a little homebrew but now i cant. My equipment is in the basement and where I'm at now My guardians like to be paranoid about anything that isnt plug and play... let alone homebrewed! HIHI!

I try. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I can make antennas, but not complicated things.

I've hombrewed a few antennas and a CW key, I find it soothing to sit down with the soldering iron and force myself to concentrate on something for an hour or two. Kit building is more my thing though, I don't understand enough of the underlying theory with IC's now to really build anything useful myself. I also used to have quite the junk box, but I got tired of moving it. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I've thrown together a few Repeaters. A good friend and myself just finished a Digipeater and we are working on two more repeaters we are going to throw up. I always look for broken gear at Hamfests you'd be surprised how many times the only thing wrong is a blown fuse or diode or something simple and if it is something major you have a decent amount of parts for other radio projects.
My friend Kyle (KG4JPL) is awesome with antenna's, we just completed a homebrew Super Station Master antenna for our APRS Digipeater. Next we are going to build an even better Super Station Master type antenna for our UHF repeater.
My goal when I get some spare time and money I want to build and put up a 900Mhz trunked Amateur repeater system. My county is upgrading from a Motorola Type IIi Trunking system, I'd love to get my hands on their old trunking controller.
I would really like to get into older Tube gear, that seems like a lot of fun!

Hay you don't have to be in a electronic course to know how to make home brewed stuff. #I know I'm in roled in an electronics course and still all i can make is and intennas:cool:

Somewhere around here are pics of my four wheeler with homebrew bug catcher attached. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I've got to put that thing on my new Honda scooter!! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

thanks for the posts guys. ya I've been working on a few projects lately, but have been getting busier with my job so been allitle strapped. but I am almost done a 20w (Per channel) stereo hi-fidelity audio amp for my "bike shop" in the garage to get some tunes in there. coming along pretty well, spent more than I wanted on a case and stuff but oh well hihi. the thing needs a prety massive heatsink and a fan (Doesn't really need the fan but I want it to stay real cool when in use alot.) I'll get pictures on the way soon.
Spent 5 days straight to reorganize the junk box and get it all in trays and stuff, still not nearly done but it is very neat to start a project and just pull out a tray with a 100 ohm resistor and not have to go digging for one. Im also building a small 1 watt transmitter for 80m
I'll try to get pic's on asap, just so busy! Instead on going for my extra I'm finding myself reading 'Basic electricity" by the us naval acdmy. almost done, im on inpeadance right now.... goona go pick up basic electronics soon to start on circuit theory, which I cant wait for. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Anyways, post some pics of your stuff here, lets see what good stuff you all got here, even if its an antenna or cw key, put it on!

i homebrew everything as i cant afford to buy stuff, as equipment is expensive, my latest project was building a pair of transformers so that i could run 75 ohm coax from my radio with one transformer, and to the antenna (50 ohm) with another. as i can buy 75 ohm satilite coax at the local hardware store.i am currently working on getting my advanced so i can start building radios. my mother likes me doing this stuff cause it shuts me up. i have two workshops, one is my station which is in my room, and i have a fifteen foot mast which i also made myself on the roof. (i also live in a town) and my other workshop is in the garage. my mom is divorced and my step-dad did not take all his tools, so i have everything i need. i currently run an ft 7800 dual band out of my room with a wilson two meter whip on the roof. anyone have any questions about anything just pm me

I do some. Mostly antennas and computer/radio conrol circuts. I can never think up any ideas on my own! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Thats ok, we all start out like that, Im just starting to figure out circiuts and design my own. I tought myself a good amount of theory over the course of the last year or so... I.E DC resistor networks, capacitance, inductance, yadayadayada...... although I am no EE (Electrical engineer) at that theory... I understand the basics and have moved on the cuircit theory... For instance I almost understood how a transistor works now, and just desinged and built my first transistor switch using a random one outa the junk box... pretty cool stuff, even though its pretty basic... theres nothin like building something that works!!! even if it takes a long time to get it to that point, haha i would know
Ill admit im not great at this stuff but i do know a good amount, and im not great either at math, pretty average or so in school... but I learned early on that its way easier to think-build-study than it is to just study-think
Anyways, what have you built? lets hear it!!! even if its really simple, post about it!!

I haven't built anything yet, but wanted to give CW a go, so I thought I might try building a morse key and some HF stuff to use when I am away at university.

I build my own antennas, and ive also built some keyers, receivers, and various other little devices.

Ive made all my antennae for 2m and HF as well as a CW Audio Oscillator, and i am about to start a Short Wave receiver as part of the UK Intermediate Licence Exam Practical Exercise.

I've made my own antenna's and some small fox-transmitters on 2m. I'm going to make a qrp 14mhz transciever.
