View Full Version : Hobby or Hassle?
Gee whiz, when this becomes more of a hassle than a hobby, is it not time to take a step back? Everyone on this forum is a non-dealer (right?). If you need COD's buying or selling, want used gear in new condition, or otherwise aren't comfortable dealing in forums like this one, Eham, or Ebay, etc., shouldn't you just confine your ham gear transactions to Hamfests, Dealers, or other face to face transactions?

I remember when someone being a ham meant he was trustworthy. Send money to a brother ham for a rig? No question. And there was little question you'd get what you were expecting too. The money was safe, the rig was on the way.
Things sure have changed.

Have been in Amateur Radio for over 40 years, and as most of us feel...I've never been "taken" by an amateur. #
At least that is how it USED to be! # #
I have been dealing on Ebay for a number of years & User Groups #and have been stung twice with amounts under $50. #Not much, but it is the principle of the thing. #
I sent $500 USD to Texas for a NCX-5 and although I was anxious for 4 weeks, it finally arrived, Just as advertised.
What am I saying! #There are MORE honest people in the world than crooks. #Let's not get too perinoid over dealing with others. #Guess I'm a Positive thinker.
73 to you all.
