I noticed that Lousiana was the only state in the double digits. I suspect that was due to New Orleans. The place was really bad.

Frankly, until the Mayor and his croney police chief agreed to protect the rights of their citizens and guarantee they would NOT take firearms way from licensed individuals during the next disaster, that whole area can sink as far as I'm concerned

Exactly- where "shall-issue" and CCW has been reinstated (TX and FL are recent examples), the violent crime rate has sharply declined...and blood has NOT run in the streets, nor has the Wild Wild West happened, as left-wingers predicted.

Tax cuts, that's a joke in New Orleans. they raised the section 8 vouchers from $385.00 to $1160.00 a month. Makes me want to put shoe polish on my face and (sell drugs) watch tv all day........... or maybe listen to the HF Bands.

No but for real, it pays better not to have a job, and live off the govt in this town. Unless you are white. Not a racial thing, the truth.

The Residents of N. O. cant afford to own a car. it costs like 10% a year for the value of the car for city property tax, and Insurance is 3 times the national average.

Add insult to injury, the working people who Insure their houses, are collecting pennies from the insurance companies, looking for anyway to get out of paying.

But the feds, are handing out as much as $150,000 to homeowners without insurance. where is the fairness in that.

All I can say is that N.O. is a dump. Has been since I first saw it. Now this hurricane has made it worse. I work with many people who have left Louisiana to come to Wyoming. They are medics and firefighters. They said that the government was unwilling to help them stay and provide for the city. They were actually told that they had to get their own place to live BUT werent allowed to be off the job for more than 24 hours a week. What a crock. However (as I pointed out in another post) there are people who are still sponging off of the government and when the talk of getting a job comes up, they riot and destroy the area.

I truly feel a deep sorrow for all of the upstanding citizens who were/are fighting and trying to rebuild. I would reccomend that you just get out and let that town burn down. That city has dug their grave and now they have to live with it.

p.s. I just saw a travel commercial for N.O. Had TONS of celebrities teling us to "come down and visit". Ya RIGHT.

p.s.s. I was just reminded of one more thing. Remember the day before the hurricane hit and the news folks were walking around trying to interview residents. They asked questions like "are you gonna leave like is recomended". The reply was USUALLY full of explatives and the reporter got yelled at. Its the BIG EASY one said, they dont care.

I thought that tax cuts were only paid to millionaires and billionaires who never pay tax because of loophole deductions which they pay accountants to find and lobbyists to keep legal. Poor unemployed folks may get a negative tax but this is insignificant to the tax cuts that wealthy unemployed folks get. Ultimately the middle class Americans pay the most taxes because they are employed but too poor to hire experienced accountants, lawyers and lobbyists.

I dunno...Maybe the Frenchmen were right when they sold us Louisiana....but I think the Big Easy is well worth what it costs if only the money is used for keeping the levees on the level.
