Well for my birthday in March this year my Wife asked what I would like. I told her I needed a New power supply for my 2 Meter Radio and told her the Radio Shack Model 22-508 should fit the bill.

I had it about two months and there was a load pop and flash good buy Power Supply. The indicator lamp was still on and the fuse did not blow.

The Specs look and it did work with no hash, its a switching supply, the size was also good.

One of the problems was with the Posts you can't screw them off .

I would suggest any one looking for a supply not to consider this one.

There has been other failures on thes check the feedback on the Radio Shack feed back.

There warranty is only 90 days and you must have proof of purchase within that period. I did not so had to go buy a different supply.

When time permits I will see if I cand get a print and try and see what failed.

Another satisfied customer! #I've had similar experiences with Radio Shack in the past year. #(My full account appears in my review of the Quantum Gel Cell, which appears on pg. 2 of this very forum.)

I purchased RCA phono plugs and, on a separate occasion, their VOM(s). #Their phono plugs (which I needed to interface my Quantum battery pack with my Elecraft KX-1), were absolutely useless, defective, worthless junk. #Part of the irony in this instance is that I was attempting to use Radio Shack's disgraceful excuse for a product as an interface between two excellent products - Quantum and Elecraft are two American companies, whose respective products are technically excellent in design and execution, whose technical support is second to none, packaging and presentation are at high standards of quality, and who have thereby earned the respect of their customers.

Their digital VOM was more worthless junk, manufactured, apparently, to break at the first attempt to utilize. #I returned it, picked up their more expensive analog VOM, which was another paperweight; didn't work, was incompletely packed, etc.

To make the transactions even more endearing, the f*ck behind the counter gave me an attitude, as if I was trying to pull some kind of scam. #Yeah, I somehow manage to obtain their worthless crap, return it, and in the process waste a couple of bucks' worth of fuel and wear and tear on my car, and miraculously I turn a profit from all this wasted time and energy.

My suggestion... forget that Radio Shack exists. #For hams, it is a non-entity. #Of course, if you need a cellphone or a cheap radio-controlled toy that will probably break as soon as it's out of its wrapper, they may still be worth a visit.

I have a Radio Shack DMM which seems to work OK, but I long for the good ol' days when they actually had electronics. #I have traded with Radio Shack since 1971, but the last twenty years or so has been one disappointment after another. #I bought a stereo receiver that burst into flames(!) on first start-up in 1987, as I recall. #They didn't give me any hassle about exchanging -- the second one was fine -- but I started noticing quality issues from then on.

The "help" is worthless in most cases. #They don't know much about specifications or even what's in stock. #If you want to buy a cell phone, though...
