The Roanoke Valley Hamfest is August 5, inside show opens at 8a.m. and we draw for the main door prizes at 2:30p.m. and close the show at 3:00p.m. It is located at William Byrd High School, 2902 East Washington Ave., Vinton, Va. 24179. You can use mapquest.com to get a map to the location. The talk-in station will be W4CA on 146.985 –600/PL 107.2. We will have Club members available for inside vendors set up on Friday from 5:00p.m.-7p.m. and Saturday from 6a.m. on. Admission is $5 plus tailgate spaces are $5 ( park in the back space and sell in the front space of the paved parking lot) or inside tables at $ 10 a table ( air-conditioned cafeteria). We will have breakfast and lunch available at the cafeteria serving line at a reasonable price and the food is good. There will be a hospitality room for the inside vendors from 6:00a.m. to 7:45a.m. and then this becomes the dining area. There is an additional outside area to eat. VE exams will be at 11:00a.m. There is free bingo with great prizes for the wives. The main door prizes this year will be cash.
