I'll look to see when this film is playing in this area and will go see it. #I think Al Gore has a point and indeed we have betrayed the planet. #I seriously doubt that people in this country or in any other, for that matter, are willing to give up that which causes global warming. #It will only get worse. #It's too bad that Al has lost credibility with some of his political antics. #Exaggeration has a place, but when it's overdone people lose believability. #We must not forget, though, Al invented the internet which we all seem to enjoy. #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

As usual Fox slanted it by giving 1/2 the story. I can't imagine how anybody believes anything they "report". I suppose it allows a measure of comfort for those who will mindlessly follow them down the road and over the cliff.

If global warming is indeed occurring it is probably too late for mankind to do anything about it. #Even if pollution and energy consumption has caused global warming these factors may not be the prime cause and steps taken to reduce them now will certainly be insufficent. #Gore's environmentalist stand is commendable...BUt there are other things that the U.S. should be doing to lessen the probability of man made mass destruction to the U.S. # Among them is what we call ending the war on terrorism...which in my opinion would help if that war was changed into peacefull coexistance by getting out of Iraq and the middle east and by no longer arming Israel...These are things that can and must be done and things that no political candidate is willing to propose now.
The sun shines in splendor

Paint you head green!
Yep it is easy to hide behind the environment and talk about the weather. #This isn't political talk...so much as it is inconsequential talk. #It makes the possibly inconvient truth something that is convient to preach about, while avoiding other inconvient truths which many people don't want to hear about.
w2ilp (Inconvient Lame Politicing)...true...but not preventable.
Here's a good one from the environmental wackos in keeping with their head nutjob Al "Gump" Gore. #That's correct, fire the heads of NOAA and the NHC because they are not drinking the environmental kool aid.

It always amazes me that the anti enviromentalist are willing to play Russian Roulette with our future. On the chance that the scientist are right, why not error on the side of caution? And what about the news that "Big Oil" has been funding all sort of front organizations to come out against any global warming reports. I hope that the 'sky will never fall' right wing anti's don't have to live to see the error of their ways. But I fear their grandchildren will live to pay for their current opposition to doing something now.

An Inconvenient Truth averaged $91,500 per screen
X-Men averaged $32,554 per screen
The Da Vinci Code just over $11,454 per screen.
As popular as the X-Men series is, it still got almost 3X their amount per screen.

The question I would ask is:
How much did each film you're comparing cost to make?
Not that I'm a Gore supporter or anything, but I would think the net profit percentage would tell the tale. #I'm guessing the X Men flick cost a wee bit more to produce.
I know in Hollywood they are pretty happy to break even, and estatic if they make huge profits. Most flicks are lucky to break even.
I think the Global warming that began many thousands of years ago should be allowed to continue. Accelerating and perhaps making the change permanent by staving off the next ice age is the best thing humans have done for the environment.

On the first allegation. The "environmental wackos":
A) Please elaborate on Al Gore's role and relationship with the people in that story.
B) Why do you always assume that any loon has something to do with the Democrats? I would like to see some concrete reason (proof) for this.
On the second part (and link), KN4LF quotes Dr. Gray to support his arguement for non-global warming. Dr Gray states on his website (that KN4LF links to):
Quote[/b] ]Notice of Author Changes
By William Gray
The order of the authorship of these forecasts has been reversed from Gray and Klotzbach to Klotzbach and Gray. After 22 years (since 1984) of making these forecasts, it is appropriate that I step back and have Phil Klotzbach assume the primary responsibility for our project’s seasonal, monthly and landfall probability forecasts. Phil has been a member of my research project for the last five years and has been second author on these forecasts for the last four years. I have greatly profited and enjoyed our close personal and working relationships.
Phil is now devoting more time to the improvement of these forecasts than I am. I am now giving more of my efforts to the global warming issue and in synthesizing my projects’ many years of hurricane and typhoon studies.
Phil Klotzbach is an outstanding young scientist with a superb academic record. I have been amazed at how far he has come in his knowledge of hurricane prediction since joining my project five years ago. I foresee an outstanding future for him in the hurricane field. I expect he will make many new forecast innovations and skill improvements in the coming years. I plan to continue to be closely involved in the issuing of these forecasts for the next few years.

I seem to recall that what Gore was pushing for was more federal funding to speed up the development of the (buzzword of the day) "information superhighway." The internet had already been "invented" by the US military since sometime in the 60's.
Looking over that superhighway today, one can see plenty of roadkill.
Well, let's see. About 220 screens and it was 9th last week and 11th this week. All I'm seeing is negativity from the right, the party with answers not negativity. Oh that's right, they don't have a movie out do they? Those who can't snipe.

I have never known an environmentalist political statement to be exaggerated.
I have to say that I am actually quite impressed that I am able to detect a global weather effect of human action with my own crude senses -- and in my own tiny lifespan.
On a positive note, the polar "scud" that was a byproduct of Soviet smokestacks and used to lay on the horizon here every spring has gradually abated somewhat over the last 15 years or so. It was very faint this year, so I guess the breakdown of the heavy industrial, collectivist economy in the former Soviet Union has been good for the environment and the air I breath.

I think "global warming" is a combination of man-made combustion that wouldn't have occured otherwise, the natural course of Earth's climate cycle and fluctuations in our not-so-stable sun. I'm just glad I won't be around for when we make the BIG climate change...i.e., the sun expands, swallows Mercury and Venus and makes Earth the closest planet. Oh, the day will come.
But, forget every being free of fossil fuels in your lifetime. Between the politicians, the lobbyists, the big corporations and our own inability to "inconvenience" ourselves.....the oil-based power & transportation infrastructure is here to stay for a while longer.

The fact that they are paying that much to listen to Al Gore talk for 2 hours is just short of a miracle!
Gore swears up and down that he's not running for president. Too bad, I think he'd be a better candidate than Hillary.
And for the last time, Al Gore did not invent the Internet, and did not claim to. He did, however, coin the name "Information Superhighway" when he was working on the Federal funding for it. Ann Coulter, the recent author of "Brainless - how to make Republicans buy your books" misquoted Gore about that, initiallly. That was before she started calling the families of 9/11 victims dirty names.

Despite the fact that "Gore's documentary has received approval from some of the nation's top climate scientists for its accuracy," a 'parent' sez, "The Bible says that in the end times everything will burn up, but that perspective isn't in the DVD." Humans didn't have to keep records, nature did.
Antarctic ice grows in layers, trapping the atmospheric gases in the process. If you drill a core in the ice and analyze the trapped gases very carefully, you can get a record of CO2 going back a long way.
I don't think the levels of CO2 are in dispute, just whether their rise is related to human activity or not.
I suppose these days the Right must be smug about the little victories. Like a High School refusing to play a film that is scientifically accurate, but that they feel disagrees with the Bible. Otherwise, God might not smite the LIBS. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
