I just saw an ad for the new FT-2000 on the back page of this months QST but can't find it on their web site.
Looks like it has a lot of the same features currently in the 9000 series. This could be my next rig if I can find some info on it. Anyone know how much they plan to sell for?

Look at the price points.
The current 9000 has a lowest price of some $6K, and that is for a radio with some, but by no means all, of the features of its higher-end siblings. I wouldn't think Yaesu would intro a new rig that would undercut potential sales of its flagship 9000 series by coming too close in features or performance.
ICOM has the 756PIII at $3K and TenTec has the Orion II at $4K. I would look for the 2000 to be in that general price range, for those would be its most logical competitors.

The "rumor mill" has the FT-2000 at pennies below $3,000. It's Yaesu's answer to Icom's 756ProIII, but requires an external display. Replaces the now-defunct FT-1000.
I'm betting it will be a hot seller. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Will Yaesu fix their long standing key click problem with this rig? If Yaesu history holds true, I doubt it.
What a shame........The 1000D, MP & MKV rigs could have all been "clean" and key click free for less than $1 in diodes.

I agree. Yaesu always does some things extremely well (key clicks notwithstanding), and they have a loyal (read: almost fanatical) following.
There was a lot I liked about the FT1000 MkV, and I came very close to buying one. ICOM's vastly better implementation of DSP, however, swayed me to the Pro III (at about $850 more at the time).
The effect of all this is to make Kenwood ever more the step-sister of the family.
