Hey all, just wanted to post in advance that I will be doing a ham radio demo for my chemistry class at Murray County High School in Chatsworth, GA on Wednesday, May 17th.

It will be some time between 12 - 1:30 PM Eastern (1600-1730 Zulu), depending on set up and how much I yap about why this isn't CB and how it's different from a cell phone.

I'm going to run for as long as I can, depending on how propagation wants to act that day. Frequencies and bands aren't a definite as of the moment, but if I can get enough replies here confirming that someone will be listening, I will make a CQ call on a designated frequency or two. And yes, I will be looking for spontaneous contacts of course.

I've got school that day, but good luck.

Tried something similar after school here, had 1 person show up and one teacher who says "Breaker Breaker One Nine" when I pass them in the hallway. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Hope you get a lot of contacts.

I should be around at that time. What modes are you planning on running?

Good luck http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

14.265 MHz looks like a possibility. I will try as many bands as I can between 40-10, as I'm only putting up a G5RV Jr. But that one's a definite and it also depends on QRM and in-use frequencies, but I will post more the day of the demo, keep a lookout here on QRZ around starting time.

How about 40 m (7.230) or on 75 m. I will be on duth at the Hickory Fire dept. at station 4 airport station. If I do not have a class I will try to be on.Wednesday is usually a slow day for classes.

What day? I don't have any more days off of school before Memorial day, though.

I will start it around 12:00 Eastern (1600Z). Keep a lookout here on QRZ either in this forum or in the Talk & Opinions forum (there's an identical post in it) around that time, I'm going to listen for clear frequencies and post my choice here. My primary choice is 14.265, and if it's clear, that's where I'll start. If not, I will post otherwise. Remember, both forums!
