I've recently sold my TS-850SAT to a ham by the call of K9IKE and name of Ike Edwards. I posted my add with all details of physical and electrical shape. I posted a picture of the rig. I made a website and included 10 pictures of the rig shot from different angles for all to see. I sold the radio to Ike for my asking price of which he paid through Paypal. After receipt of the money I double wrapped the rig in bubble wrap, securely packaged it in a cardboard box, filled around that box with foam peanuts/newspaper and put it all in another larger box. I then shipped the item UPS Ground Insured to Ike. He got it a few days later when he returned home from business. He emailed me a short while later claiming damage and demanded $50 for a dent. I said the $50 damage shouldn't be any trouble and to please email me a picture of my radio's damage. He emailed me a front shot with my rig identifiable by a solder burn mark. A seperate rear shot was sent along of a TS-850S with a dent on the right rear... no serial stamp was included in the view so I am completely insure that the rig in the damage shot was even mine.

I then requested Ike to send me another picture showing my serial number and the damage. He refused to do so stating the rig was at his vacation home for which he had bought it (when I sold him it on the phone he stated he was buying this for a friend who had done work for him). I then called UPS to file a claim for damage in transit. They requested his phone number to setup a meeting time with him to inspect the rig/packaging. He would not give me his phone number nor will he consent to a UPS Claim for damage. In his "expert" opinion the rig was not damaged in shipping. I then encouraged him to contact any authorities he felt fit contacting becuase I now had a feeling I was going to be setup for fraud. I can get in a serious amount of trouble with my employer if I break the law and I certainly will never risk my career over something like this.

Ike continued his name calling, slandering, shouting and character attacks through Email. He has now turned to slandering my name online through your's and other ham classifieds. He won't go to Ebay to do anything about me because he can see that I have 33 positive feedbacks and not one negative for selling and buying ham gear. I am a creditable online buyer/seller. I cannot imagine trying to pass off the damage he claims I did to this radio on anyone of intelligence. I think he possibly dropped the radio or UPS damaged it and he thinks I did it and is unwilling to consider the fact that I did not damage it before shipment.

I have not touched the photos on my webserver's site. They provided a dated archive of the condition of the rig as I shipped it. He provides nothing but a non-damaged frontal shot of my radio and a damaged rear shot of any TS-850S not identifiable. When he does get around to taking a picture of my radio with serial number then if it has the damage atleast I will know he is atleast speaking about the correct rig. I will then continue to encourage him to go along with the process of filing a claim with me for reimbursement of damage. Since he is unwilling to do so it furthers my thoughts that the rig arrived to him in undamaged shape, he damaged it and then tried to defraud me of money. Now since he knows I will not pay his attempts to defraud me he has turned to online slandering.

What can I do? I can only ask that those who care to see my Ebay feedback as user N6WIN.

I also ask for people to see my radio at http://www.timcoker.com/hamradio.htm

And to see the dated archive of pictures at http://www.timcoker.com/images/ts850sat/

I ask that managers of the online classifieds please remove his posts and/or block him from posting further flames and character bashes.

I also encourage users to email me for copies of all of our email correspondence so that they may see the proof to make up their own minds.

Thank you for your cooperation and time. I am deeply sorry to bother you for this petty incident and foolishness of my buyer Ike (K9IKE). I hope to never meet someone like this again.

i can't believe this post is still up. what a shyster. this character thinks cause he's a cop, he's beyond questioning. firstly, he NEVER sent 10 pics of the radio. he only sent pics of the radio highlighting the damage that he acknowledged prior to the sale of that radio. the up/dwn band controls that
were melted by a misplaced soldering iron.
when the rig arrived it was very well packed with several layers of bubble
wrap to cushion. thats why i was surprised at the damage to the rear corner of the radio. it was smashed pretty bad. some of the paint was had popped
off and the re-enforced corner of the radio was really bent. i was surprised it
even worked. i examined the box for damage and seached the interior and
packing for paint chips. i found nothing. this tells me that it was damaged before it was packed. i asked who packed it and he acknowledged it was packed by him. i sent pics of the radio and got nothing but the run around
from this guy. i simply asked him to discount the radio to cover the unmentioned damage. so he goes into a routine about what i intended to do
with the rig ( which was none of his biz ) rather than address the real issue . (oh, yeah he's a cop so he can't be questioned ) what a piece of work.
