Hello:

I have bought a ICOM IC 910H, and everything is fine except one problem than after several checks and after to ask to some OM’s using a ham radio forum, I know better now.

If you want to use a CAT program to control the transceiver for satellite use or to fill in a LOG program, there is something wrong than happen:
The transceiver only sends the frequency than there is in the selected VFO never sends the data is in the SUB band or VFO B.

I think this is a big mistake particularly when you want to use a program for satellite to help with the doppler effect and also you want to use the manual tuning option of the program. The program never knows with frequency is in the TX band of the IC 910.

This is a big inconvenient.

Does someone know something to do about to fix this problem?
Is there something to do, like to remove a jumper inside of the transceiver, or something similar?

Thank you.
Best regards.

Hi Miguel-

I am not familiar with the 910H, but I can tell you that the problem is most likely in the software and not the radio (someone will correct me if I'm wrong).

Many popular log programs only track the 'A' VFO and don't properly poll the radio for which VFO is in use. I have little doubt that the Icom is capable of providing this information, but the program has to ask for it.

More than once, I have logged the wrong frequency because I was using the 'B' VFO in my Kenwood.

My best advice would be to try a different program -- some software authors DO get this right. Either that, or contact the author of the program you're using.

you might try contacting kg4kww...I think he has one of these radios and may be able to help you.

Hi again:

Thanks for the answers.
I think, this is not IC 910 problem... this mistake is happening with all Icom radios.

Is this true?

Best regards. 73.

BJM would suggest you sign up for the Icom Reflector on QTH.net. Lots of info there, and if there is no answer, post your question on the reflector. There are several guys who used to work with or at Icom that could answer the question.

I have never used any computer control for any radio, including the 756 Pro, 910H and Yaesue 1000MP. The stuff I have seen only controls the A VFO.

BJM note you already have an answer on the Icom Reflector. Good show. Different software..!
