Quote[/b] ]Many regions, including New York and Connecticut, stopped using MTBE years ago and have not been affected by the disruptions. The rest of the Mid-Atlantic region and Texas, primarily Dallas and Houston, face the brunt of the problems because they are the last remaining users of MTBE gasoline.

"Ethanol-based gasoline is more expensive, and the average price is already above $3 in Washington and New York," Ms. Rossi said. "By Memorial Day or even sooner, a lot of other areas are going to pass through that $3 benchmark, too."

...Funny how history repeats itself. Next thing you know odd/even gas days lines for hours on end. Oh to be young again in 1973. How much more BULL**** will the oil company's and the goberment shove down the American peoples Yak! Start taxing the oil companys windfalls.or start drilling in Alaska,to Hell with the enviromental Wackos. When are you all going to wise up and start

# # #! HOME REFINING !

Just think of all those table scraps, lawn clippings and yes, even dog droppings that with a few $dollars invested in a methane cooker you could be commuting to work on recycled Alpo, Hamburger Helper and Scott's Turf Builder. #

Shop carefully, specify "methane cooker", don't get cute and ask your friendly Ace Hardware man for a "Meth Cooker". #

Good luck!

KW4MW, Why don't you tell us how to turn corn into Ethanol-based gasoline and at the same time enjoy the left overs over ice?

There will be no lines unless there are voluntary or government-imposed price controls.

The economic problem is scarcity. Oil is scarce. Wood is scarce. Food is scarce. Gold is scarce. Diamonds are scarce. You only have lines (shortages) if the price is not allowed to balance demand with supply.

If the supply of truckers becomes tight, they will cost more.

There's always a mini

The new version outcornered a Ferrari in the slalom. Personally, I'd like to see them bring back the bug.
