I thought this commentary quite interesting and revealing about how Mexico treats illegal aliens and foreigners in their country.

This must be why thundering herds aren't beating down the walls to get into Mexico. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

They think running to America is bad, try being an illegal alien in Canada. You have to obtain citizenship for at least a year before eligibility for Canadian Benefits. If it takes 5 or more years for immigrants to become US citizens, why do they get US benefits the day after they cross the border. Can anyone from Canada, tell us how long it takes for immigrants to become citizens before the 1 year waiting period for Canadian tax benefits? I think the cool part in Mexico is that non citizens cannot own land or propiertship in Mexican based corporations. Well I can stir the pot and use a metal spoon on this thread. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I like this collection of thoughts, but Canada is pretty open.
A college buddy of mine was from Singapore, and loathed going back to Singapore because he did not want to serve in the Singapore army, which was apparently a requirement of all young males. He had an aunt in Canada, so he simply went to Canada and stayed there rather than return to Singapore. As far as I know, he never left Canada.
