I don't think Jack Chester (John Candy) ever had this in mind.

Ok, nice spread. First of all I would not share the tub in the master bathroom with two other people. The shower has only two shower heads not 4! The hometheater bedroom needs to be converted to a family room. Where's the popcorn wagon and dimly lit pathway? The ocean views are beautiful, however their is plenty of room next to the pool for a pair of STEPP IR's! Where's the Ham shack? Their is more than enough space and height to run a full size 160m dipole at a generous height of 45 feet! Ok, I forgot the IC 7800! Just imagine the number of users on QRZ we can start our own QRZ IOTA! 73, Aloha KI6ADA http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

If you were looking for an amateur radio operator's "vacation paradise" the old CQ Motel (at the intersection of U.S. Highway 35 and U.S. Highway 31 - before the days of the Interstate highway) in Kokomo, Indiana, was just the place. It opened sometime after World War II, I know that it was there from the late 1950s until sometime after 1970. I used to drive by it going from my home town of LaPorte, Indiana, down to college in Atlanta, Georgia (Georgia Tech).
The owner was an amateur radio operator and he had a "shack" set up in a room next to the office. There was a "Christmas tree" (20, 15, 10 meter yagis) on a self supporting tower (an old windmill tower if I remember correctly). There also were wire antennas that were visible from the highway. I know that any amateur who stayed at the motel was welcome to use the station and I "heard" that any amateur who happened to be driving by could also stop and use the station as well.
I never stopped to see what was going on. Coming from the north my trip had just started and coming from the south my trip was just about over. As such, the desire to see what was going on just wasn't there. However, the local Kokomo operators knew what was going on and that is where I got the "nitty, gritty, details".

Nice looking little bungalow. No towers/antennas/shack kinda devalues it, though. Would $350 a week be offering too much?
