Just wondering if putting the net at 0200GMT might be better and allow more folks to participate. I know that at 6PM CST I'm just getting home from work, and lots of folks out west aren't even home yet...

OK,that is certainly a splendid idea!

OK, now we have three threads going , but that is OK. more publicity, hihi.

So, I'll tell you what...we are still working the bugs out, but we WILL accomodate this idea.

Lets go with the scheduled time and frequency 2nite, but tommorrow, or next week, we will look at bumping it up.

40 meters on the east coast gets ugly real quick the later we start, but we are also looking at having the net on 20 meters, and an idea is floating around about having a later net on 75 meters.

So, the more input the better, and we will do our best to hold the net at a convenient time for all.

There are difficulties obviously with accomodating everyone's timezone and schedule, etc, but we will do our best!

I hope that is good enough for now?

...a good point about having MORE than one net ---it might inspire folks to get better antenna systems to where they can check in to more than just one net. Plus there would be more than just one N C S , and they could work together to provide a great system for every one to enjoy.

If you miss an earlier net, you may be able to check in with a later net on a different band...endless possibilities and options for all of us.

Every one wins . http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I get off work at 11:pm est so by that time 40m is not an option for me.But as I do have a fair antenna-other bands are good for me as well.

I could almost never make it at 0000 UTC, since that's in ten minutes from now and I'm at the office.

I could probably make it at 0200 UTC (usually), though. Whether 7275 is a good choice or not is another issue...I'm never up that high in the band, so don't know if a BC station is squatting there or not.

On 40 around 0200, I'd usually be on 7225 or lower. Much lower, down towards 7150, there are fewer BC stations and that makes it easier...

Hope to bump into some of you, anyway...

Propagation on 40m will generally be better at 0200Z for me. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

I hear ya'll yakkin' but can only make out a few words from the bigger guns. The band is coming up though, so I am hopeful.

Here's an idea:

Conduct it on 60M.

No BCI; no QRM...

GREAT response. After I wrote this post I figured what we'd wind up with is multiple nets :-)

It would be nice to talk coast-to-coast on 40m, but as has been pointed out that could be somewhat difficult to get both propagation and schedules to line up.

I'll just be happy to be involved in *any* HF net, regardless of where/when it is :-)

Well it didn't take too long to come full circle! I knew this would happen.

Here we have a posting on an Internet site where people talk about ham radio about a net on the radio where people talk about the Internet site where people talk about ham radio.

My head hurts!
