Uh oh. I have my ts-680 currently rigged to mobile use as summer is coming and i plan to use it camping and travelling.

So my long wire i hooked up to a simple dx-394 receiver for some swling in the meantime.

Hmm... this morning I tuned 80m to listen to a few regualr nets. Nothing but static.. hmm.. band must be bad this morning oh well i went down to mw for a morning show on a local radio station and found it at s-5 with heavy qrn. Huh???

I went outside and looked at where I have my long wire It was snapped clean from the tree swaying in the wind. NO MORE TREES! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

The door to the roof was open for once so I dragged the 16 gauge speaker wire that serves at the long wire and looked at the roofof the apartment building. Vents all over the place.

I grabbed a meter stick (only peice of wood i have) and streached the line from where it's feed to the meter stick mounted on a vent. The the rest I streached at the opposite angle to the chimney where i tied the end up.

A quick listen showed the radio station overloading my front end and some spanish guy on usb on the 15MHz area. Ok good.

One problem though. In the antennas V shape it's about 1 meter off the roof thanks to the stick. I need a hgiher pole so people who go up there dont decapitate themself
