In the spirit of Field Day, the RARS Group was created to promote remote field and mobile operations. RARS Group is open to all licensed amateur stations who enjoy operating from the field, mobile, marine or remote base locations. You can even set up your station in your backyard and join the fun. Modes of operation are SSB, CW, QRO or QRP.
So if you enjoy the outdoors and working from the field or from your boat, car or truck somewhere in the middle of nowhere, we invite you to join us and make everyday a field day.
You can visit our new site at: http://rarsgroup.com
We are still very much under construction but it is coming along nicely.
Thanks & 73

Hmm...looks like RARS and SCARS should get together some time.

Ya'll share the same slogan. #(Gee...maybe SCARS attorneys should contact RARS attorneys to work out an agreement on sharing the slogan. #Ya think?)
Field operation is really becoming popular. #And a lot of people are rediscovering Ham radio because of it. #Just look at the huge numbers of HF Pack members.
With my FT897's batteries charged up and ready for my weekday afternoon escapes from work, maybe I'll CU on the bands. #40m and 30m CW between 2000Z and 2130Z.

Sounds fascinating -- a more of a purist's Field Day dream.
I always thought declaring a weekend as 'field day' with no prior notice, and the participants pick up their gear, and head for the boonies to set up and operate. Would be much like a REAL-LIFE emergency, not a bloated Sweepstakes contest.
I could see where it would hone our emergency response skils in a hurry. And facilitate mobilization if another disaster like Katrina should hit.
