I'm considering replacing my aging Motorola Micor VHF repeater with a new Kenwood or Yaesu (running at 1/2 power with an external RF amplifier).

Seeking comments on performance of both Kenwood and Yaesu in hostile RF environments. I require easy programming and quick interface with aftermarket controllers.

Any owners care to share their experiences?

Thanks.

P.S.: Also seeking input on Telewave's compact VHF base station duplexer (19" rack mounted version).

In my opinion you had better keep the micor for operation in high rf enviroments these new kenwood/yaesu have such a wide front end they except everthing pagers even cell phones in close proxceminity.
kenwood is better than yaesu kenwood is not as wide banded.Motorola micor is 5 hz yaesu 136-174 mhz programable no tuning! kenwood i am not real sure about
DO the math i am sure micor will come out on top.

#On the dupexers check out rx-tx best on the market now
no nore wacom what a shame!

We have three of the Kenwood 2M repeaters running on med to high RF sites, and they work OK. They do have a tuneable front end, not as selective as a Micor, but not a barn door either. They will run continuous duty at 25 watts, so that should work for you. Have beenhappy with them so far.
