That's the most positive thing I've read about the hobby in awhile. I'd love to see them become new hams and work them. So much for code is dead. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

We should each send that class one of our QSL cards.

That's the kind of story I love to see. What a great idea using radio as a teaching aid, I think I'll send them a QSL card tomorrow.

"LaRoche says that her kids really enjoy using the code practice oscillators to send morse code to one another."

I love the picture http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif and have also found that kids like code once they are exposed to it.

However it is surprising that no one has posted that the kids in her class are being brainwashed by pro-coders.

It won't take long, be patient.

This is great, I toured the site and its nice work. I am glad to see teachers teaching all aspects of something instead of the easy way. Way to go kids

This is what I love to see. With school club roundup just around the corner I am hoping to work many different schools. Last year my most awarding QSO came from a group in Carnation, WA where I talked with several 4th graders. Each of the 4th graders wrote notes and sent along with the QSL card that I received. I made peronsal QSL cards for each of the 4th graders and sent them to the club.

I tried to get a demo at my school, but things never got put into place, because the teacher who was going to sponser the demo never went through with contacting anyone, and I as a student could only talk to local hams aswell as the school and try to build a connection, sadly it never got really fixed.

Maybe I will go next year (when I am a college student) and propose a demo as a community amateur, rather than trying to do it as just a student.

Peter I Island (Peter "the first" Island) which is off the coast of Antarctica on the South American side. It is virtually straight south of the Dallas, Texas, area.

Not too good on SSB, but the penguins are doing a bang up job on CW. The let the humans handle the SSB.
