Guys & Ladies,
Question for someone when I want to talk on the 440 band do I need the set - or + on my kenwood tm-v708a radio?

I guess it depends if you're gonna use a repeater or not, and what is the split...
Not sure if I understand your question
Harold,
Assuming you're interested in repeater operation, it depends on the repeater you're using. Some areas use positive offsets, some use negative offsets, and other areas are mixed.
You appear to be in Florida, and Florida appears to use a uniform offset of +5 MHz. So you would set your radio for the + offset. This may vary as you travel.
The Florida Repeater Council listing of the state's repeaters on 440 MHz is available here (http://florida-repeaters.org/440listing.pdf).

It also depends on the frequency of the repeater output. If the repeater is on 448.000, obviously +5 is out of the band. But the 5MHz split is nearly universal. So below 445 it's +5 and above 445 it'll have to be -5.
