As me and my son was at the local airforce base yesterday getting something off layway for him. He looked over before we went inside of the b/x he noticed he saw another ham mobile station but this truck had a major h/f station, my son looked inside he noticed a big black hf icom radio with a meter sitting below it, Also he had a 2 meter radio also, for antennas he had a custom made h/f antenna that had a big peice of white pipe that was about good 6 foot in the air with a 10inch stinger. That setup was nice looking we both agreed on I didnt see the station's owner I was gonna ask him about what he had and how he liked it

I liked my mobile setup when I was still driving. # The control heads were as you see, and the radios themselves were mounted to the bulkhead behind the seats. The 2m and 440 MHz antennas were on the roof and the Hustler was on a ball mount on the side of the truck at the rear. #I also had my SGC autotuner mounted inside the bed (with a cap over top) inboard of the ball mount. #A short piece of #14 wire went from the tuner to the mount as coax is inappropriate in that situation.

And yes, that's a CW paddle mounted on the end of the gooseneck. #I despise the sound of SSB - I'm a CW op, even when I was driving back and forth to work.

Thats a nice setup you have there WA2ZDY! The station had his or her radio mounted in the middle I guess with a small meter to the left side and the 2 meter radio on the top side of the hf radio. I wish the station's owner was out in the parking lot I would like to had a QSO with him or her

Mobile set-ups are nifty. As I will be starting college in the fall, even though I will be living at home, I won't have much time to sit around and play radio. I will be installed the IC-718 mobile and using ham sticks for HF. I will also install my DR-130 mobile for VHF. This will be my main set-up until I can afford an IC-706MK2G (or IC-7000) and High Sierra Screwdriver. As I suspect I will be living in Austin (or another large city) after college, I will be living in an apartment and my mobile set-up will be my main set-up. I would also like a portable set-up, but that is for a different thread.
