I'm very glad I got the Icom 7000 for Christmas, but I can't find out how to modify it to get the tv picture Fred talked about in his review. It's frustrating! Can anyone help me out?
Thanks,
Jeff

1. You could look at the website by AB4OJ:

2. QTH.net and sign up the for Icom Reflector.

Search this list and give the guy a few bucks as a donation (http://www.mods.dk/index.php?RadioRec=icom)

Works like a charm too.......
Others have pretty much covered it - mods.dk.
Personally I wouldn't bother as it doesn't cover all the channels and is analog only. Only does VHF 2-13, analog, no digital channels. Watching TV on that small screen is painful too.
I uploaded a mod photo to my server. #You can find it here (http://www.reynoldsworks.com/ic-7000/tvro_mars.jpg).

Great photo, Michael.
The newer IC-7000 boards have a pair of solder pads next to the TVRO diode. If you cut the (tiny) trace between the pads with an Xacto knife, you're done. No fussing with removing the diode, and no chance to lose the diode in case you ever want to reverse the mod. To reverse the mod, just put a drop of solder on the pads to "bridge" the cut. Wish I'd taken pictures when I had mine apart.
No pads for the MARS/CAP diode, though. I have no use for that mod, so didn't bother.
I agree that the IC-7000's TV is only marginally useful, but since you paid for it...
