After reading in Monday’s Daily News, The Daily News (http://www.dailynews.com) an article about the possible Blackberry loses of e-mail, I had to open this thread. A Californian Assemblyman was quoted as saying; “I sometimes wonder whether the Earth will continue to spin on its axis if the Blackberry suddenly stops functioning". I wonder how anybody can get so addicted to such an inanimate object as a Blackberry. There was a remark referring to the Blackberry as the Crackberry. Everyone, hang on for a second, there seems to be some commotion in the office. NO, NO, get away from my workstation. Aaaaarrrrrrggggg!!!

Without trying to find the article (a link directly to the article would have been nice,) the poster has a point. Too many folks have become addicted to gadgets such as the crackberry. Look at me for example. I won't go out without taking a shower. Have you ever seen a grown man walking down the street carrying a shower?
It's worse than when I was addicted to ham radio and carried my Motorola packset around with me!

If portable phones were still made like the above, there'd be a lot of one-seater yuppiecars buzzing around, heehee.
I was offered a crackleberry at work. I turned it down. The cellophone is already enough of an intrusion. I wouldn't mind pitching that if I were allowed.

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Here we are, a bunch of hams, talking about how other people are addicted to their gadgets!http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Ahh, life is good, in'it?
I'd rather not get a blackberry either, and I also agree that my cell phone is too much an intrusion, but right now having a two cell lines (one for myself and one for my wife) is cheaper than having one land line, and my cell is also my business number.

Blackberries are not good without sugar. I see someone wants to exempt the govt from the problem. Isn't this always the case?

Isn't a Blackberry a cousin to the Boysenberry. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
It is as I understand it a combination of a cellphone, Internet access device, E-mail transceiver, and all around doit memo pad.
Any one care to expand?

A blackberry is a little thing 'bout as big as the
end of my favorite finger.Thumb if it is a really fat one.
best used in jams and jellies or even straight off the vine(or whatever they grow on)but be careful of the thorns.
as far as the electronics thing...
I wouldn't knof a blackberry if I was smashing it with a pool cue. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

I'm one of those people that loves technology just for the sake of technology and I don't understand what all the excitement is about. I DO have a pocket pc pda/cell phone, but if it suddenly quit working I really wouldn't care. Blackberry is even less useful than that device...

It's like an oversize pager that has a screen and a full, though tiny, QWERT keyboard. It's used for email pages and short messages. I wish I had one but then again I like gadgets.
Then again, I dont have a boss. Retirement is great!

I just renewed my cell phone contract yesterday for another two years. I nearly got a Treo, but I decided I wouldn't get $200 (what my final cost would have been) out of it. It sure as heck was cooooool looking though!

In this case it is the same as, "dingleberry", I would guess...
