It's with deep regret that we have lost a fine man and member of the

MOCKSVILLE NC Mr. Kenneth "Ken" Gray Hester, 71, of Junction Road,
died Friday, January 27, 2006, at WFU Baptist Medical Center in
Winston Salem, after a period of declining health. He was born July
15, 1934, in Winston Salem to the late Fred M. and Amma Lee Crotts
Hester. Mr. Hester was a retired mechanical engineer, who had
relocated to Mocksville to enjoy a peaceful, rural life. An active
figure in his community, he was known to a great many as a caring,
sincere and forthright gentleman and made friends wherever he went.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first
wife, Blanch Opal Billings, in 1992; seven sisters; and one brother.
Mr. Hester is survived by his wife, Mary O'Neill Hester of the home;
a son, Rodney (Inga) Hester of Brooklyn, NY; three step-daughters,
Virginia Defosses of New Hampshire, Adrienne (Mitch) Headen of Siler
City and Sarah Mussen of Mocksville; three step-sons, Eugene
(SonHui) Mussen of Kannapolis, Juan (Carolyn) Mussen of Mocksville
and Matthew (Suzanne) Mussen of Advance; fifteen grandchildren; one
expected granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral
service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, at Eaton
Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Interment
will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Winston Salem. The family
will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the
