I remember watching his funeral on TV and I remember folks saying that if it wasn't for him, England would be speaking German instead of english.

Quote[/b] ]When Sir Winston fell ill, he was visited by one of the country's leading neurologists, Lord Brain, who advised on his treatment.
Are they kidding? Was Pinkie there too?

"Our Winnie."
Talk about a life well lived, starting with being born in a coatroom.
We all owe a huge debt to this gentleman.

The entire free world does. If the Battle of Britain had been lost by the English, our ordeal would have been much worse if not insurmountable. Without England as a base, we could never have beaten Hitler's Germany. And I don't think any of us want to ponder those possibilities.

Only fitting that there is a USS Winston Churchill, lately in the news.
I think of his many great quotes. #This may not be his greatest, but I like the humor.
" I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly."

A Great man, him & FDR made a good team, at that time.
It seems that the right men were at the right place at the right time. Churchill was definitely a man of his times. When I learned to read and got my library card, his autobiography was the first book I got out of the library. I've read many books about him over the years, but the most interesting was a true story called "The Paladin". It begins at Churchills funeral and goes back to WW II...
His defining the Eastern Bloc as the "Iron Curtain" was an excellent example of his grasp of the situation.

Paradox; I hate politics and politicians but Winston Churchill was a man I admire most. Too bad I can't post my favorite picture of him dressed in pinstripes and cradling a US issue Tommy Gun while chomping a cigar in his sly grinning mouth. It's a purposeful pose so naturally I titled it "Winston Capone".
