View Full Version : Aussies Invent Flying Car
The Jetson's car is HERE. Apparently the Aussies are keeping this under wraps until it was perfected. Satellite technology triumphs again....

Well, there were flying cars made in the United States back in the 1940s and into the 1950s. Some of these still exist today. These have been featured in various programs on cable television channels like The History Channel.
The photo is so fuzzy that you really can't tell what is going on.

Looks to me like a white car and a black car parked on the grass.

I agree with Glen. I have seen the shows he talked about and the darn things were a decent concept.
Not the best thing to fly as a private plane in general aviation service, but very functional.
If everyone had one, including the ditz next door, how many lives would be in danger?

In Seattle Boeing Museum is an exibit about a guy thatbuilt his car into a mini plane. He was able to fold out the wings, stabalizer, rudder and a small jet engine in less then five minutes and fly away.

The one Glen speaks of was a prop job and was chronicled in both Popular Science and Popular Mechanics Mags.

Heck, the Duke boys had a flying car what was it, 15 years ago or so. Man they had that old General Lee flying over something at least once every week. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Wasn't there a flying car on the old "Love That Bob" TV show with Robert Cummings? I think it was a car that converted into a small airplane.

And leave us not forget the Weasleys' Ford Anglia, pretty much demolished by the Whomping Willow...poor Ron Weasley and Harry Potter barely escaped!

Molt Taylor did it best (and yes, that was Bob Cummings driving/flying one of them.)

The problem is that there are other black cars in the pic and you can see their windows, unlike the shadow (Or - 'black car'). Neither it nor the Flying Car have reflections coming from their windows.
Something interestings afoot there. Maybe it's flying upside down in the land down under. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
According to the BBC, Flying Cars in our garages are imminent:

OK, then how about a car up on a sign post? I've seen them, usually at a garage advertising repairs.
You don't really believe it's a levitated car, do you?
