Wish I had been at the game. Almost did go, except wanted to play a bit in the VHF Sweepstakes, and there was a time conflict.
81 points in one game. Only Wilt's old 100-point record stands in the way. Think Kobe will go after it?

I'd like to see him try. I wish I had watched that game, I'm sure it was something! Now how about the highest scoring game? I think it was a Denver Nuggets game back in the 80's (can't remember exactly when or who they played), but I believe the final score was 176-174 after two overtimes. It may have been Philadelphia they played, I don't remember.

The question is "how will the 81 points help him in his off-court activities"?

Probably no difference, he could buy those activities before, anyway. Or settle them out of court, and I don't mean the kind with baskets.

And Kobe had 2 whole assists last night. As I remember Wilt's 100 point night was a planned thing with his whole team helping feed him the ball instead of taking shots themselves. Last night, from what I gathered from the news and tv, and highlights was just good ole ballhawk Kobe running and gunning. Granted he was exceptionally hot but I wonder if he took many more shots then he has been per game this season. I think they said he took 46 shots from the floor last night. But his teammates were doing some shooting it sounded like, the rest of them had 41 points also.
Ah yes, NBA basketball, the game of defense. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Who's Kobe?? Oh, I know another spoiled rotten megamillion dollar sports guy. What a role model!

Since I'm a Lakers fan and regularly attend games at the Staples Center (and the Great Western Forum for many years, before that), I remember one of the first interviews Kobe had here on KTLA-TV.
The 18 year-old NBA newbie was asked, "Do you think you'll be the next Michael Jordan?" And he answered, "No, I'd rather be the first Kobe Bryant."
He's done nothing but get better ever since.
And his humility is pretty cool. Last night he said the most exciting thing that happened is that Magic Johnson called him with congratulations, and that was more valuable to him than his points total or the game score.
You just gotta love a game where most of the players and half the fans have criminal records.
I can't Stand Kobe, (I'm Spoiled and a Rapist) Bryant.
Role Model... I think NOT.
I have some names for that guy, but I'll just keep them to myself for now. I think Shaq already exposed the truth about him !!
It's a shame that he is even allowed to still play Pro basketball.
What an Embarresment for the NBA he is. I refuse to watch any more Laker games because that Jerk is still on the Team !

Might be spoiled, but many athletes earning multimillion dollar annual salaries might be considered spoiled. I don't judge him or anybody that way.
Rapist? Accused, never convicted.
I believe he had a willing participant with dollar signs in her eyes. Still makes him an adulterer, but then so is probably half the American population over 30.
Easy to condemn people we've never met, but I try not to. And at least I have met Kobe: He signed my Lakers calendar in 2001. Maybe he remembers me, I was the one in the Lakers #8 shirt.

I know a guy that collected all of his cards he could when he was a rookie/draftee or whatever they call it. (I am not a fan at all). He'd predicted he was going to be a hot item.. Wonder how much those cards are worth now...

I don't collect player cards, but my guess is, "not that much." At least, not yet.
Reasons:
Probably zillions of them sold.
Bryant's still young, and still playing.
People haven't lost or misplaced theirs yet -- the cards become valuable when most are lost, misplaced, thrown away or whatever so there aren't many around.
I'd guess those same cards will be very valuable in about 40 years.

Kobe is a jerk. #Lakers could have been a dynasty but he is an ego-maniac who couldn't get along with Shaq and Phil Jackson. Against Detroit in the playoffs they concentrated all their defense on Kobe who would not pass the ball - just kept shooting to the Lakers demise. #He doesn't care anything about his team- only himself. Even Michael Jordan admonished him for being such a ball hog.
I think we all know he is a rapist, the 19 year old would have probably won had she not dropped the case.
If you want an example of a true Athlete Role Model - take a look at Shaun Alexander of the Seahawks. #Someone who kid's can look up too.
Kobe could only be a hero to people that live in L.A. He would have been run out of town in the Midwest or the South.

Replace the name Kobe with just about any person involved in a multi million dollar a year job & you could make the same statement. I'm sure Bill Gates, Mick Jagger, Shaq or the CEO of Burger King or Yahoo are not very nice people in "real life."

::Nike reinstated his endorsements and he's still collecting his $160+ million dollar salary. His "jersey" (Lakers, #8) is currently the fastest selling sports garment on the market, the a special "81" version is going on sale Friday, with more than 100,000 pre-orders from fans (mostly kids, probably) all over the country, not in California. So, he's a very successful jerk. Shaq just made nicey-nicey with Kobe before the start of last weeks Lakers-Heat game (which the Lakers won) and that hatchet seems buried. And Jackson returned to coach the Lakers, Kobe and all. Of course, he dates the owner's daughter, but I doubt Phil can be "bought," he's already very wealthy and he's coaching because he loves to.
>I think we all know he is a rapist, the 19 year old would have probably won had she not dropped the case.<
::You're in the minority on that one. She dropped the case because it couldn't be won, and the majority think she was lying, anyway. Her own friends and townsfolk didn't believe her -- that makes for a very tough battle. If she could have won, her lawyer's the biggest idiot on the planet, because she convinced her to drop it.

::Good reasons not to live in those places. Wilt had his 100-point game when he played for Philadelphia (Warriors?) and then revealed he had affairs with at least 10,000 women, which is how he likely contracted the illness that ultimately killed him. He might have exaggerated, I think it was only 9,000.

Doesn't that work out to about 1 a day, every day for 28 straight years??
