The NFC's number 1 rated team all year (Seattle) vs. the 6th seed from the AFC (Pittsburgh), and the initial line is Steelers by 3.5 pts. Wow

I guess we will soon find out if the NFC is really that weak.

I have thought all year that whatever AFC team that makes it to the Superbowl could beat any NFC team, but the Steelers I am not so sure. While they played well against the Colts and Broncos, let's face it Manning and Plummer played horribly.

I am taking the Seahawks for the "upset".

I kinda think that the Steelers can win and I think the points are about right.
I would however like to see Mike be the first NFL coach in history to coach two different winning teams in the SuperBowl. That and I think it's time for Seattle to have a win and lose the ChickenHawks name.
My son has Mike's first signature as a Pro coach. He and his wife and daughters were at my home in CA just before he left for Green Bay. They purchased a Pug pup from us.
My son still treasures Mike's signature on his then NFL youth football. We have a picture of him signing it for our son.

The locals are claiming they are about as evenly matched as you could hope for.

It's going to be a REAL football game, lol. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Still laughing about the Panthers whomping though.. Wonder how they got that far http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I don't care one damn bit. Today's NFL football players act like a bunch a narcissistic, steroid pumped up, ignorant, illiterate, jerks. They are not heroes, role models, or worth one moment of my time. Tell me who is working on a cure for AIDS, or cancer, or any number of scientist trying to cure childhood diseases, and I’ll show you a hero and role model and someone worth paying attention to. As far as I am concerned, these football players are not worth a dime for all the fat around their guts. They can go to hell and take the Superbowl with them.

No one. It will never happen because the only research allowed on US soil is by the drug companies to find substances to treat the symptoms.
Seems like I've said this before on this forum.

I'll have to start a thread about SuperBowl food again.
Poppers anyone?

Seattle gets no respect after all they have done this season.

The pregame on Sunday was all talk about how good Carolina's trash talkng receiver was. Seattle got very little coverage it seemed. Now the book makers are putting the Steelers up by 4.

I am gonna bet that the Seahawks will win it all.

Maybe then they will get the respect they deserve.

Seattle always gets disprespected because most of the country forgets that we live out here... with the exception of Starbucks... http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Like I said in earlier posts... I have waited 30 years for this... Literally... I was born in 1976 when the team was starting out... I have followed the team since I can remember... Finally the Superbowl... I say Seattle by 10 in the Superbowl... Vegas oddmakers can stuff it http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Poppers are good... but I like the Buffalo Wings too... with lots of blue cheese dressing...

Go Seahawks!

Manning and Plummer played poorly because Pittsburgh's 'D' played very well.

I'll take the beer swilling blue collar bruisers from Pittsburgh over the latte sipping, Birkenstock wearing, left coast losers from Seattle. #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Let's face it, Seattle beat Washington and Carolina in the playoffs, two teams that made it to the playoffs on a comparatively soft schedule. #

Pittsburgh, on the other hand, had to play three playoff games on the road, first beating division rival Cincinnati then soundly beating a very good Colts team before moving on to beat another very good team at mile high stadium.

If Pittsburgh loses in Detroit it will be due to a let down of emotions and not for a lack of ability. #Cowher knows how to best motivate his team, so I don't see that happening.

NFL Charities provides more than $8 million in grants each year to a variety of national non-profit organizations.

Immediately following the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C. on September 11, 2001, the National Football League (NFL) and the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) jointly responded to this tragedy by establishing a $10 million NFL Disaster Relief Fund.

NFL players and teams raised over 15$ million for Katrina relief.

NFL players give back to the community in many ways. Players donate their money and time to charitable organizations and in many cases establish their own foundations to focus on community needs that are important to them.

8 Million? What a bunch of cheapskates.

But I’m afraid you people don’t know what we are up against out here. We have a Superbowl champ that moves away and a loser team that moves away and next year wins it all. You don’t know the heartbreak those bastard Rams caused my late father all those years only to move to ST. LOUIS for crying out loud. Could they have picked a bigger loser of a city? I hate them, and I hate football. I’d say more but it’s time for my morning medication.

From MWQuote[/b] ]Manning and Plummer played poorly because Pittsburgh's 'D' played very well.

Manning especially played poorly regardless of the Steelers defense. He missed a lot of passes he normally makes to open receivers where he wasn't under pressure.

Being a Bengal season ticket holder for 20 years I know the Stellers well and this is a good team but not a great team. They were 7W 5 losses when the bengals beat them and won the division. The Steelers had to win 4 straight just to get in the playoffs. They would have never beaten Cincinnati if they Hadn't cheap shotted Palmer. Manning played like crap as did Plummer with 2 interceptions and 2 fumbles.

Pittsburg is a good team and playing well but they are darn lucky to be in the superbowl and I hope they get beat bad!

Tony, don't hold back.

I thought the first several Superbowls were incredibly unfair, in that they were always scheduled the same weekend as the ARRL January VHF Sweepstakes.

Now, due to the amazingly longer football season which seems to never end, the Bowl is later than the Sweepstakes. Heck, soon it'll probably be in March. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I'm guessing you don't like the signs posted at LAX showing a football in a circle with a diagonal line through it? That may change before long. I'm building a bridge from my yard to the Coliseum, and I'll have the last laugh when I start selling parking spaces in my yard for $100 a day per space...

Just glad the Dolts aren't in it. Come to think of it, they have NEVER been in the Super Bowl after 22 seasons in Hooterville, Indiana. The curse of Johnny Unitas has seen to that, Bucko. Those Johnny-Come-Lately fans will just have to wait... and wait.... and wait.... Haw!

The Squealers are on a real roll. I'd expect that trend to continue through the Super Bowl. Sure, their fans are a bunch of towel-waving morons, but the team is quite good. HOWEVER, take away Rooteetooteeburger, and they become VERY beatable. The crappy Ravens actually beat them this season when Tommy Automatix-Loss was in at QB.

Go Steelers. They got the momentum and looked great. Seahawks go home to "next year 'ville". I was surprised to see that the Lions and Browns have never won a Super Bowl... and I thought the Jests were bad.

Well anyway it looks like an even, interesting matchup.
I am anticipating this might be one of the best Superbowls yet. Maybe on the order of the College Tecas USC game. Wouldn't that be fun.

Yes we were very dissapointed. After so many terrible years to finally get in the playoffs and lose our MVP QB on the 2nd play of the first playoff game was just horrible for Cinci fans.

As far as the hit. Kimo Van Olhoefen who injured Palmer is not a dirty player. He played in Cinci for a number of years. Most people in Cinci (me included) don't think he was intentionally trying to hurt Palmer but he hit him late (illegal) and below the knees (illegal). Typical Pittsburg play.

Like you say - we will have to wait for next year!

Usually I would root for a fellow AFC North team but not this year I am hoping the Seahawks win.

Go Seahawks!

Oddly, the Seahawks are an EX AFC team and the Steelers are an EX NFC team. Don't know if this has happened before though.

While I would have liked and Eagles / Steelers matchup I will be rooting for the Steelers to ground the Seahawks.

Sigh!

Super Bowl Sunday and then that’s it for at least 7 months unless you factor in the Pro-Bowl (yawn) and pre-season (yawn, yawn) #

Seven unfootball months, ugh! #

Basketball used to be fun to watch, it was a team game of finesse with the likes of Jerry West et al. #Now it has been reduced to a spectacle of thugs with over active pituitary glands, each with his own agenda of being the star of the show. #

Baseball, now there’s a yawner sport. #I like playing baseball and softball, watching it on the telly is another matter. #There’s nothing like sitting through 5 – 6 innings of butt numbing boredom and then finding out that the only real action happened when you went to the can to discard the effects of sucking down 3 – 4 Bud Lites. #

Olympic Games/Trials – It used to be that when the networks showed an event, they showed all of the event. #Cripes, now you know who is going to win the events because they only show the best or most favored performers. #

“Now we go to Lucy Slugalug at the women’s gymnastics, what’s going on over there Nancy”

“Well Brett, Eva Boomaloom is up on the parallel bars and she needs to score at least an 8.5 to beat her nearest competitor, Olga Holgarz from Serbia. #This is followed by oohs and ahhs and gasps of delight as Eva whirls and twirls her way to a 9.997 score. #

“Brett, Eva nailed her last performance and is well ahead of the remaining competitors, she should win the Gold easily”

“Thanks Nancy, and now we are going over to the men’s final curling championship where Mark Schmidt from Canada is leading his team to victory over the seventeenth seeded team from Trinidad.” #

NASCAR – now there is a sport that requires great concentration and knowledge to follow all the intricacies of the ins and outs of motor sports. #

“Bert, Tom Hoyt in the Home Depot Chevy seems to be making a move on Andy Schmalz in the Copenhagen Dodge.”

“Well Larry, the Home Depot Chevy has been running smoothly all afternoon and HOYT JUST TOOK THE LEAD! # DIDJA SEE THAT? # AMAZING!”

You want to make an interesting race, go up to West Virginia and map out a cross country course through the hills. # Put 200 cars on those 2 lane roads and let them start LeMans style. #I’ll watch that.

In the meantime, I guess I’ll just have to mosey on down to the VFW and watch the WWII vets play horseshoes. #

It’s going to be a long boring spring and summer, sports wise.
