It doesn't quite compare to W3SY's gig in Palm Beach, but I've achieved my 15 seconds of fame.

Silence golden as Shea's channels Chaplin to reimagine era of glory (http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20060123/1027066.asp)

That is really cool, man. Too bad I am not around there. Ever make it to Chicagoland?

That's a VERY impressive 15 seconds. HTH did you learn to play a Mighty Wurlitzer if you don't have one at home?

IMHO, it beats SY's gig since you didn't have to be around The Donald and that bunch. Plus playing an instrument like that must be incredible and then to get to do it in a venue like that has to be even better. Not that I can play any keyboard instrument but if that was me in your place, my biggest problem would have been paying attention to the music and not getting distracted by Chaplin's antics. He was a master and, son, you must be considered pretty dang good yourself to get the honor of being there and playing like you did. Kudos.

Thanks for the kind words. I've been playing for about 30 years now. Started playing theatre organ when I was 13 at a theatre in North Tonawanda called the Riviera. They have a 3 manual 16 rank Wurlitzer there. I'm still involved there.

Unfortunately I don't make it to Chicagoland as much as I used to. I used to have friends there, but one passed away and the other moved out of the area.

It is an awesome insturment and a really beautiful venue to play in.

There are quite a few theatre organ enthusiats who are also hams.

Hey Kevin FB!!! I remember Shea's very well back in the 1940's when a pre-teenager----a magnificent theater that has been returned to its former glory. The mighty Wurlitzer was played back then between movies, and I can still hear it.

AATOE and the Mighty Wurlitzer forever! My a bit more than 15 seconds of fame happened when I had the pleasure of helping rebuild the Wurli at the Old Rahway (NJ) Theatre and doing side by side recording with HMR Productions the day before the concert that unveiled it to the public. Oh, I attended the Grand Opening when it accompanied silent films as part of the concert, awesome!

So Kevin, maybe you'll follow in the footsteps of Virgil Fox, good luck to you.

Oh Gary, I see you like Alice. (;->)
