If the war contracts are so good for Halliburton, why do you think they are trying to sell or spin off the KBR division that holds these contracts?
Simple answer: These contracts are only providing a margin of 2-3%. With performance bonuses the margin can go up to 5%. Other Halliburton ventures are returning margins of 15%. If those continue, Halliburton shares will go up even higher when the KBR division is dumped.

The low margins are not for lack of trying! One would think a combination of no-bid contracts and pervasive overbilling would result in a nice tidy profit.
Even though the above bothers me, there's just darned few American companies that are able or willing to take on the jobs in the contract awarded to Halliburton.
