Pakistani Killed Daughters to Save 'Honor' (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051228/ap_on_re_as/pakistan_honor_killings)
This guy says he killed his daughters because "We are poor people and we have nothing else to protect but our honor." Too bad he doesn't value his humanity at least as much as his honor. Or, that he finds no dishonor in being such a devil.

Too many people use "honor" in place of "personal ego".

Muslim leaders should make their outrage be heard and hang this man in public. And anybody else that commits such a barbarous act.
Leave him hanging until his stench fills the air.

And those are the people whose "freedom and democracy" we are sacrificing our soldiers' lives for.
Plus thousands of millions of dollars we can't afford to spend.

May I point out that US military and money is not being used in Pakistan. It seems to be a bad habit among Pakistani fathers to encourage their sons, cousins and any other males in the family to go out and kill the boyfriends of their daughters who they say are dishonouring the family.
It doesn't seem to enter their dim thick heads that killing people is murder, and a conviction for murder brings the worst dishonour. There are far too many of these kind of incidents in the UK and this habit should be left behind in Asia. Do in Rome as the Romans do, and us Romans don't do that.

Lots of backwards, inappropriate, racist and cruel ideas being imported to Europe.

Geez. Reading that will give you the willies. I hope this isn't actually true.
I hope it's not completely accurate - the website doesn't look "fair and balanced" to me, but I have heard that incidents like this do occur from reliable sources.
But see also Judges 11:30 (http://bible.cc/judges/11-30.htm)-11:40 where Yiftach (Jephthah) sacrifices his daughter because he made a vow and honor will not permit him to break it.

News has a way of magnifying events to make them seem more prevelent or significant than they are.
This is too much if it happens once. That there is one person in the world that thinks like this is saddening.

Don't assume that everyone mentioned in the bible is going to be justified. Much of it is just a history; not necessarily inspired. Even prophets fell out of favor with god.
This life is a time to show your true colors not just blindly follow some belief system.
What kind of person do you want to be?

I think there has been some financial and military assistance in tracking down Al-Qaeda members in the border region with Afghanistan, but no major "coalition" operations there..
What I was referring to was the whole middle east, particularly Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
Similar stories have come out of all those countries. For example, I recall reading a news item about a young Iraqi woman who was murdered by family members because she had been raped by solidiers or militia members. In Iran a young girl's brother tried to kill her because she was suspected of sneaking out to see a young man. Her hands and feet were bound, she was laid in a road, and the brother ran over her multiple times with his car. Miraculously, she survived and was able to tell the story. A friend of mine who worked in Saudi Arabia before Gulf War I, reported tales of similar incidents there. When I was in the US Army in the late 60's, I heard soldiers who had been stationed in Turkey report the same sort of thing.

I do not believe that the act of this individual subhuman is typical of Muslims in general. I hope that the Muslim authorities take steps to make it indelibly clear that this is the act of a subhuman beast, and will not be tolerated. If not, the rest of us need to express our concern to the Muslim world that their beliefs seem to be dehumanizing.

Unfortunately in too many 3rd world countries women seem to be as equal as the furniture in their homes.
I think this kind of weird behavior has been the consequence of misinterpretations and distortions of regulations, habits and costumes stated by almost all religions during many centuries, which additionally, -in some cases-, has favored the raise of groups of extremists that have no respect for human lives.
Hopefully this will change in one or two more centuries.

Hi Jose!
As with all great things that will happen in the future........ it's a shame this will also NOT occur in our lifetimes.
