Old news.
It happened just as soon as Tookie was terminated.
Glen, K9STH
So, he requested his name be removed from the stadium, according to the article.
I would not call that terminated.
Gut, das wir kein Anschluss fuerchten mussen.

Old news? It was reported at 8:14 AM this morning- less than an hour and a half before it was posted here. Oh, must've been on Faux news. I don't watch them. Still, I doubt if he would've requested diddly squat if the outcry back home was absent. Well, another case for Condi running in '08 I suppose.
The latest (less than 2 hours old) on this story.

If they want to put a name on that stadium in Glatz (instead of Schwarzenegger) Why not put my name on it?
My father had changed his name from Weichselbaum to Wexelbaum, because he didn't want it to sound German during World War 1...but either name might be appropriate in Glatz because my mother often called my dad a stubbon Glatziana!. This didn't bother him much. He called her a dumb Litvok. From all this I learned what Shakespeare said "What's in a name?" it didn't matter. We were all loyal Americans.
Actually my name hasn't been good for me. I am sure it kept me from getting interviewed for some good jobs when I was terminated elsewhere. I won't change my name or let my children change it. I dunno what a real Glatziana is like for sure, as my father may have not been a typical example. ..and I don't want to break a long line of them on my own.

I have it on good authority that the Glatz burgers are arguing over whether to rename the Stadion after Tookie or after Sarandon.
Stay tuned.
(This thread shows how desperate the libs are to try to fling any dollop of mud at any Republican, even if the Republican is a Republicrat.)

Sorry, but this doesn't wash...
This board has had SO much Democratic party #trashing that you can't even remotely make the claim that #Republicans are victims...
Your cheap George Will wannabe postings are an example of trashing Democratic politicians, which is the mudslinging you decry. You or the Republicans aren't #victims at all...
Your use of the term "libs" shows you for the shallow thinker you are despite your use of "big words"...

Thank you for the compliment.
Oh, by the way, I am a registered Democrat. As the late Mr Stengel used to say, "you could look it up."
Whom were you quoting with "big words?"
I like Arnold, and think he is a great guy, but he took the coward's stand with the Tookie execution. Arnold deserves what he gets.
Most of the better-educated countries that guarentee their citizen's civil rights have ended State executions.

I was curious about Japan being on this list, as I didn't expect it to be there. Excellent information about why the death penalty is still used in Japan can be found here. (http://www.japanfile.com/culture_and_society/social_issues/death_penalty.shtml)

Some use a pertty big cheese slicer in some countries esp. that one back in 1983 todays standard politically incorrect about Arab Executions but they will not play that in the US the injection is the one the public chooses to use.

Very good reference. Japan is probably not understood well by old Americans who lived to hear a lot of the propaganda about the Japanese that was used during WW2 that was untrue or exaggerated.
I believe that there may be more Humanists in Japan than in the U.S. I have seen better teacher , student and parent relationships there that show that people really care about each other. Japan can afford to be that way because people are not as diverse in ethnicity as in Americans. There is thus more community spirit and bigger communities without specialized ghettos. The Japanese believe in respecting their parents and I dunno about it now but parents were legally responsible for their children and were dishonored if their kids committed crimes. It was said that to be a criminal in Japan you had to be an orphan. Of cause there are lots of criminals in Japan but criminals there are loathed more than here when convicted as they bring shame on their whole communities. Thus we see a remaining death penalty for the worst of them and we still see unsuccessful students and business managers who take their own life (by suicide) because they are ashamed of their failures. Perhaps the few criminals who have been sentenced to death in Japan might have been expected to commit suicide...but failed at that as well.
These are just my opinions about sociological differences. Thanks again for the information.
w2ilp (Interesting Listed Punishers) I read that in Liberia anyone who loses an election gets executed. I dunno where they learned to do that.

The person who started this thread (moi) is posting NEWS. He didn't MAKE the news, he didn't make an accusation, he didn't even make a judgement. I left that up to you.
I do find this fascinating though. Pataki - who was thinking of running in '08 - got character assasination. Rudy - with similar inclinations - got character assasination. Now Arnold - who has a chance of running in '08 - gets the same treatment. I wonder why? It doesn't seem that the Democrats are eating their own like this. Fascinating.

- hmm... this story made the news... but why? what possible spin could this news story have?
1. a local government acting in an adult manner and responsibly expending tax payer monies on general consensus?
2. certainly a European governmental entity wouldn't seek to 'erase' a name? i'd be shocked!
3. the local (i assume 'elected') officials wouldn't be trying to make a political statement and interfere with another country's politics, right? (something the U.S. is accused of all the time)
4. why would these people care about a single execution in the U.S. when in other areas of the world women are stoned to death for simple cultural offenses? i've never read of the shock, horror, and widespread condemnation for those events...
5. where's the outrage over other countries' behavior? why only the U.S.? (jealousy, in my opinion)
- what's next? book burnings?

He cannot self-terminate, which is why he had to ask someone to do the termination for him.
I'm honestly surprised that he let them have the name this long, since usually every star requires a nice fee for usage of thier likeness or name on something nowadays.

Israel may not have the death penalty for its own criminals...BUT
every time that Palestinian terrorists kill Israelis three times as many
Palestinians are killed in revenge. IMHO as a Humanist, I see that as a
specialized DEATH PENALTY. It solves nothing and leads to more terrorism.

To now come here and deny the obvious reasons for your post, which varies not a whit from all of your other posts on similar topics, greatly lowers you in my esteem.
Were I to resort to the kinds of personal attacks favored by at least one of your avid boosters, I would be tempted to use the word "liar." Not given to such lowly tactics, however, I shall refrain.

Weak? That's high praise considering the source. I posted something that was extremely interesting - another Republican Presidential hopeful getting his character drubbed years before the election. Somebody is working overtime on this.
What I got was surprising.
The story was said to be OLD. It was posted less than 2 hours after it broke.
The story was said to be without merit. It was lightweight, it was beneath notice. This isn't something that happens everyday.
Then when that didn't work, you didn't call me a "liar" (why am I so disappointed), and my reply was weak. I didn't rant and rage, but stated the facts. I suppose I failed the neo-con idea of a true intellectual by not jumping the couch like O'reilly and Hannity. I didn't engage in Character assasination - merely pointed it out. I left the real opinionating to those who read it - at least in the beginning. This must be uncomfortable to neo-cons, because every time they have to think for themselves they come up with the same answers.
The Commie-Bedwetting-Godless-DEMS did it. Shoot the messenger. If you don't like the story, please feel free to write Yahoo and all the other news services that carried it. Tell them that as a neo-con, you are true Americans devoted to a news gathering capability that works for true Americans.
Namely, don't tell us what we don't want to hear.
