Apparently I don't have the ability to post a new topic in "Ham Radio News" so it's here.

While I know this isn't a record, I still found this impressive. Congratulations to the Hams who were able to achieve this.

I saw the article a few days ago and was equally impressed. That took a lot of work and skill on the part of those guys. Especially impressive is the fact that the antenna aperature wasn't all that large so aiming it must have been really critical.

I think a large buzzard landed on the dish after eating a two day old roadkill, had a bad case of "toots" from gas, and the sound was picked up.

. . . . . and it all started in 1957 when US hams listened to the beacon on Sputnik.

I remember my dad listening to it -- and he even got a mention in the paper.
