As I was called to testify in the case against Jack Gerritsen, I had a moment to speak to the FCC officials who were at the trial. I was told that although it wasn't the biggest factor in bringing Jack Gerritsen to trial, that the QSO/Letter writing campaign which I started here on QRZ months ago had a real impact on getting the USDA to proceed with bringing him down.

I wish to thank all of you who took the time to send in those letters. I was told at one point that the USDA had a three foot pile of letters on her desk from hams around the world.

You people had a real part in forcing the hand of the authorities and for that, you should feel proud that even though a lot of you were out of his sphere of influence, that you stood arm in arm with those of us who were having to deal with his tantrums.

Speaking for all of the hams in southern California, we thank you for your support.

Regards,

W6DCE

Oh, for Pete's sake Tony! #The man has his marbles and he was doing it defiantly, EYES WIDE OPEN. #Trashing the airwaves and interfering with official spectrum users like the Coast Guard was his idea of free speech. #MY ASS!

DCE,

Thanks for your efforts on our behalf. #Situations like this often require some private initiative and you stepped into the breech. #NICE YOB! #But I don't think is was the Dept. of Agriculture that did Gerritsen in........probably a federal district attorney.

FYI... a federal prosecutor is not a "district attorney" (nor a "USDA," which is, as the other poster pointed out, the acronym for the US Dept of Agriculture). #The key federal prosecutor in each district is a "United States Attorney" (subordinate to the US Attorney General), and their assistants (who conduct most federal prosecutions) are "AUSAs," or Assistant US Attorneys.

BTW, congrats re IRO! #It had to be done.

It's a shame that we have to pressure our government into enforcing laws that are on the books.
Kinda like the illegal border crossers where I am at. But it appears that too is now gaining some attention.

Like I said before, Gerritsen is nuts. They need to put him in a hospital and give him a rubber radio to play with.

Seriously, I truly feel sorry for him. It must be terrible to be that screwed up.....

If you think he is nuts from his antics, you should have seen him in court. To tell you the truth, I was surprised that the jury even needed to go into the room. As it was it took less than an hour for them to come back with guilty verdicts.

Gerritsens entire defense consisted of.. "I got this letter on (insert date here) saying my license was cancelled. I didn't believe it"

"Then on (insert date here) I got this letter saying I was fined $10,000. I didn't believe that either"

You know if someone with about $3,000 to burn wanted a good laugh, they could get the court transcripts.

Hey now that's a real idea.. what say all of us kick into a pool and I can get the transcrips and scan them into a document available for download.

I can tell you that just in entertainment value alone it is worth it..

Hearing the state ask him "Exactly what is a Jamming Retard Net Jack?" and then hearing his explanation was hilarious..

Haha, that's great! I wish I could have made it downtown for the trial. Seriously, I think your transcript idea is a good one. Are you going to set up a paypal account? I would definitely be on board with that.

Hi all,

"Kinda like the illegal border crossers where I am at."

Thank the bleeding heart liberals for forcing the INS to create way stations so those buggers won't die crossing the desert. Now if we see "FREE JACK" posters in front of the courthouse when he's sentenced wanna open fire on them? Let him learn the meaning of "freejack" in prison! Meanwhile let's see if the FCC turns those fines over to the "collection agency".

"What was his response?"

"DUH?"

Merry Christmas Jack!
