I recently purchased the V-6988 Computer Controlled Smart Ni-Cd & Ni-MH Battery Charger from www.BatterySpace.com. Along with the charger came 10 AAA 850mAh Ni-MH batteries, and I purchased 12 additional AAA's and 24 2300mAh AA Ni-MH's. When I saw the prices, I thought to myself "This must be a rip-off. Nobody would sell this kind of stuff this cheap.". I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG The charger is well constructed out of ABS plastic. It has 10 slots, each of which has a spring-loaded sliding contact to allow a AA or AAA to be inserted. The computer processor is designed so that you can mix and match Ni-Cd and Ni-MH batteries of different mAh's and sizes (AA & AAA) in different slots at the same time. It can tell what mAh each battery is and cut the charge to a trickle when the charge is complete on each cell. Each slot has a multi-color/function LED to let you know what each battery is doing; charging, discharging, or done. The instructions were well printed and straight-forward. There was no confusion in it's operation whatsoever. Now, bear in mind, this is not a RAPID charger.
The 2300mAh AA Ni-MH cells trickle charged in about 13 to 15 hours, which is about right for that mAh. I am very pleased with the charger, and would recommend it to anyone looking to purchase a AA/AAA battery charger. You CANNOT beat the price. While you're at it, you can't beat the price of BattterySpace's batteries. Believe me, I looked for hours before I made my decision to purchase. You get more power for your dollar at BatterySpace. Oh, by the way, you have to remember, even though it's small, it still has a computer inside of it. I accidentally keyed up an H/T next to the charger, and somehow "scrambled" it. Lights were flashing all over it.... It looked like the LAPD chasing OJ. I thought to myself; "Man, I fried it....." Not this baby. I disconnected the plug from the charger, waited a few seconds, plugged it back in and do you know what? That baby was just fine. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I rate this as a 10 out of 10
